The worst Sunday…. I don’t really know where to start. There was an attitude as soon as we walked into the place. The atmosphere wasn’t very nice. We waited ages at the bar before being served by the woman behind the bar who didn’t look like she wanted to serve anybody. It was shocking to learn later that she was the manager! we sat down to eat. We had reserved the table for 3.30. no one came with any menu’s. after we searched the place we finally found some. when we went to order the food they had no beef or pork. When the person I was with pointed this out, we were met with a grunt and an extremely rude response. We should have left then. But I informed my party and they changed their order. We also asked if they could prepare a slice of cheese and toast for a child. They refused saying they didn’t have a grill. When I spoke to my friend about the attitude and rudeness of the staff, I was challenged by the woman with bad attitude. When I told her that her response wasn’t in anyway good customer practice, she told the bar staff to cancel my order and told me to leave. So our party of 7 left including two children. Never again will I set foot in this place. Apparently she is known for her bad attitude and some of the people when we were leaving said they were not surprised.

Just The Best Ale. The G & D is a superb traditional English pub, the kind that is being demolished on a devastating scale here in England. This is a real ale drinker’s wet dream with probably one of the best cellars around, the Timothy Taylor Landlord, is the best pint I have had of it, but I don’t go there just for the beer, the location is superb being situated in the middle of one of our most picturesque villages close to Wentworth house and the garden centre. The food is very good at a reasonable price whether you eat there for lunch or evening meal, the staff are friendly and in summer the beer garden is great and in winter there is a real fire, everything I look for in a good pub, parking is limited so I like to park at Wentworth garden centre have a look around and then walk down to the G & D.
