This is England. Pie and mash. Very nice crust. Nice service. A bit of vinegar oil helps add some flavour. If you dont understand what pie and mash and eels are then you might find this a bit confusing and cry.

Perfect authentic London pie & mash experience – no frills, it feels like it would have been the same back in the 40s (which is a great thing) good service from old school Londoners, food as you’d want it served hot and fresh

Whats happened here. Pies undercooked and not nice at all. Somehow they managaed to get a burnt Tang to the potatoes. Jellied eels were as tough as ole boots and without any taste at all.Having been bought up on Pie & Mash and now a 64 year old, this is not a good shop. Manzes Walthamstow was where I grew up, terrific food, Manzes Tower Bridge Road great, Harringtons Tooting V Good, something not right at Peckham…give it a miss

I LOVE pie and mash eateries. Manzes (Peckham) looks appealing from the outside. Nice and quaint interior with benches for eating in. The food, however, was not as good as I’ve tasted in other pie/mash shops. Pie looked like the ones you’d buy in a petrol station. Pastry was very undercooked with very little minced beef filling. I wasn’t convinced that they were home-made. Mash was good but quite solid and needed to be creamier. The gravy was fine but took up most of the plate. Quite a small pie and dollop of mash compared to places such as the now deceased place in Greenwich which served huge pies in proper pie dishes with a mountain of mash for less than 2. Overall, Manzes Peckham was a disappointing visit which is a shame as this place is a very old establishment. Cost of food very cheap so a big plus. Am going to try branch at Tower Bridge out of interest.
