When I lived in the depths of Peckham, there wasnt much going on. If you wanted to go to a half decent pub or get some food, we always had to head to Lordship Lane in East Dulwich. All of a sudden, it seemed I moved out of the area and the cool kids moved in. They bought with them some new trendy bars, a bar on the rooftop of a carpark and some nice little eateries. As a massive fan of tapas, Ive wanted to visit Miss Tapas for quite some time. A couple of weeks ago, I finally got my backside there and Im so glad I did. After having walked for 25 minutes on a reasonably hot day, I was dying for a beer! We got sat at the bar (always my favourite place) and a pint of Estrella was ordered immediately.Once my thirst had been quenched it was time to get the food ordered, and obviously with tapas you have to attempt to try everything. There was no doubt in my mind what I was going to order first. Croquetas. I love croquetas! Miss Tapas was offering spinach and blue cheese croquetas. These bad boys were delicious, I frigging loved them! Croquetas and Blue cheese my life has been fulfilled. Im done. Next some little pieces of Spanish fried chicken, served on top of some small potato portions, with a mojo picon sauce on the side. Fried moist chicken and a red pepper dip with a subtle kick lovely. The next 3 dishes came highly recommended. Presa Iberica de Bellot, thin slices of very pink meat just disappeared in the mouth and was gorgeous. Quail egg and chrorizo offered warmth from the smoked sausage and some small, but serious yolk porn. Fried Monte Enebro goats cheese with honey was a bloody good dish. The cheese was creamy with a strong punch. I honestly could eat this every day. I love a strong cheese and this didnt fail.At this point we were quite full, but being the gannets we are two more dishes had to be ordered. Arroz con Gambas, this was a bit like a very small paella. I could be wrong, but thats what it tasted like to me, surprisingly light and fresh. We then ordered some mushroom and truffle croquetas. Yep, we had 10 croquetas between two of us. Whats your problem? Little earthy, deep fried balls to finish off were perfect.say finish, but we then had dessert. Simple, but delicious chocolate cake was served with raspberries and cream. It was light and moist and a great way to finish the evening. The venue itself is small, but with a great vibe and buzz. Miss Tapas is surely doing something right, as we left just after 10pm and there were still people at the door. I often think about owning my own tapas place, and this is how I would want it to be. We received great service from everyone and their recommendations were spot on.With eateries like Miss Tapas popping up in Peckham, people can no longer screw their nose up at the place. Now get yourself down here, you know it makes sense. Big up SE London!Mangetout. secretscoffer.wordpress.com
Well impressed by this peak date night restaurant just off Rye Lane. Banging food for an OK price. Best avocado salad of my life, quality tuna steaks, patatas bravas pure , sardines on toast . Only minor comment is that the beef croquettes were quite rich. Overall a taste sensation. Was enjoying it too much to take more pictures.A diddy space so get there early for more chance of getting a seat.
