I turned up at this place on a Friday night without booking so I ended up sitting by the sushi bar which was nice as I could stare at those raw fishes. So I had one of the mix sushi platter, the salmon and tuna were divine and tastes very fresh. Then I tried their rice dish with egg and katsu on top, this one is super filling and nice on a cold day (winter is coming). Then closed the dinner with a bit of ice cream (roasted green tea) which was equally good. All in all, good meal good place and probably book table next time!
Simple Japanese with simple decor. My friend and I wanted a light supper after the cinema so headed to this pale small 75% full room on a Saturday. Chef’s sashimi at 23 was reasonably priced for its range of different fish types and quality to share, if not melt in the mouth. Tempura prawns were light and fluffy;cmiso soup was highly recommended; the only disappointment was Kaiko salad. Four types of seaweed with a too sweet sesame sauce. Overall an sturdy but solid 7/10 that came to 30 each with beer and green tea and black sesame ice cream (also two sweet).
What happened?. We go to Sa Sa all the time and it is usually ok service with great sushi for a decent price. Today, Oct 15, we went and the sushi was like it was made by my kids. Might have well put some rice, seaweed and fish guts in a blender, shoved it down my throught and took the money out of my wallet while I tried to figure out what happened to me. Maybe the chef was today…
I loved it!. The food was really amazing. Fresh and tasty. Everything we tried was very very good and above average. It’s great value for money. The ambience was nothing special but it was clean and comfortable, and the staff was kind and smily.
Not a bad try. OK, so it wasn’t the best I’d ever had, but it wasn’t bad… the rice was fine, the sashimi was fresh and tasty (particularly the yellow tail, really good) and the fried bits were, well… fried bits. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. All the elements worked together and no, I wouldn’t make an effort to come here, but I’d certainly pop in again if I was in the area and fancied a raw fish fix.Full review at http://www.grumblinggourmet.com
So so sushi? Actually the sushi was ok. Shame about the greasy udon soup, surly service and (lack of) atmosphere. Pricey for tiny portions. We won’t be going back.
