Excellent food, and excellent service. The beer selection was impressive, the sausages as well as their sides were a great treat after a nice long walk down the river.
NOT TO RECOMMEND. Im german and was really disappointed because first of all you cant even order a beer without having food which is redicilous expensive!! The staff is unfriendly and dont know the german beers. After discussion and rudeness I still had the wrong one. The food is good but the prices are very expensive, its only a sausage in a beergarden! I wouldnt go there again!
Go to Kingston Steins. After being spoilt by lovely light lunches at Steins Kingston (5.99) for nearly a week I thought I’d check out Steins in Richmond. No light lunch menu so went for the roast pork shoulder-schweinebraten and a Pauliner Weiss dunkles. What a dissapointment! Beer was ok but bottled and the draught beer selection here and the menu ( no trout) was actually inferior to the Kingston branch where you get Erdinger Weiss and others on tap. The schweinebraten was too dry. Very expensive overall but the location is lovely and great for families. All outdoors and no waiter service. Like a pub really. And very touristy. Won’t be going back.
Madness. I went to Stein’s on a really busy hot sunny sunday, and it was packed, as one would expect. The experience was ruined, though, by their absolutely insane method of ordering your food and drink. There is a counter that can only serve food and your FIRST round of drinks, but then there’s another counter for drinks only. When the place gets busy, it’s chaos, as the qeues are positioned together as one, which meant i qeued for 20 minutes, it barely moved, and the whole scene was one long argument about whether it was one qeue of two.To compound this chaos, the bar staff took FOREVER to serve each customer with just a single beer.We gave up and went elsewhere. A massive shame, because if they had proper table service, the whole thing would work a lot better (or, at all).
