GREAT THAI FOOD IN PURLEY. My family love Thai food and have tried the ones in central Purley but we have decided ‘Thai Venue’ as our favourite.Very friendly staff and very honest and tasty food. We like the clean taste of the food and the Chu Chi prawns are to die for.We all have our different taste buds but for us this is the best one in Purley and Coulsdon
Bad taste. Last Friday I decided to order home delivery from Thai Venue and it was the biggest mistake. I ordered for starters the money bags and mains were, prawn pad thai, massaman curry and green chicken curry. Massaman curry had only one small piece of potato and the beef was cut in to thin slices instead of chunky pieces of beef. The green chicken curry wasn’t any better, the chicken pieces were very small and didn’t have much cocnut taste to it.All I could taste in the pad thai was ketchup?? Who puts ketchup in pad thai?I have grown up in Sydney, eating Thai food regularly – not ever did that pad thai ever have ketchup. It is typically tamarind paste, fish sauce, chilli sauce, brown sugar with bean sprouts and roasted peanuts.

New to Coulsdon, I thought Thai Venue looked good, but a real shame it was so quiet on a Fri evening. 3 of us had the cheapest of the set menus with a bottle of wine and coffee and it was just under 20 a head. Most importantly the food was excellent, the service unobtrusive but efficient. Probably better than Baan Thai in Purley (though I love the decor there!). Will certainly go back – this restaurant deserves to be busier!
After abandoning Baan Thai & Dan Thai in Purley due to excessive costs and weeny portions discovering Thai Venue has been a stroke of luck. Friendly staff, very helpful, food fairly priced and very tasty. admittedly I have had better, but at only three times the price. Good value all round
