This place needs some serious decorating its appalling, the carpet, walls, half the lights don’t work.as we walked through the door it was empty and very cold I wanted to leave but we were told to go upstairs which was a lot warmer.it was quite busy upstairs.thwarted waiter took us to our table …the starters were excellent though a bit oily.the tikka sag paneer was excellent but lamb tikka karahi was just gravy and onions, the lamb was so chewy I didn’t bother finishing it off.the makhanwala and tikka masala tasted exactly the same.the pilaw rice had too much colour as did most of the starters.the waiter was very appreciative of my complaint and assured it was not normal and did not charge for my karahi.overall not impressed by food but excellent service

Decidedly Mediocre. A disappointing curry night with friends.Food Quality: Mediocre. I haven’t had a bad curry for a long time, so although this was not especially bad, it is the worst I’ve had for a while. The starters were OK (shared a Royal Kebab and Mushroom Pakora with a mate) though nothing special. Then I had a Lamb Achari. I’d never tried an Achari before but usually I enjoy something new. I did not enjoy this. Finally I had a coffee, which was served with cream and sugar. The cream (I suspect not real cream) formed lumps in the coffee giving the appearance of its being sour.Value: Deceptively average. Went for the special price menu. 8.50 for four courses sounds like excellent value. However, the ‘four courses’ included the pickles and poppadoms, which I consider to be an appetiser before the meal, not a course of the meal itself. The starters and main course were of reasonable size, but the main courses only came with rice (which I never have with curries) and the staff would not consider bringing a naan or a couple of chapatis instead. The ‘fourth course’ was billed as ‘Ice-cream or coffee’. I was in a party where some had one and some the other. The quantity of coffee (a small cup, only just more than half full with no refill offered) and the quantity of ice-cream (one small scoop) seemed rather stingy, and the ice-cream did not even have a wafer or a tiny spot of syrup with it.Customer service: Very, very poor. It was very difficult to catch the waiter’s eye and hard to call out loud enough over the ‘background’ (read ‘loud and intrusive’) music. It was about the music that I wanted to speak to someone. I have a little difficulty hearing when there is a lot of background noise, and another member of our party relies heavily on hearing aids. Conversation was proving difficult with the volume level and type of music. When I asked if it could be turned down I was laughed at and told ‘they will complain downstairs’. I’m not sure if ‘they’ were the customers or staff, but I can’t imagine any customers complaining about LESS volume. For me a meal out is a sociable thing, but tonight conversation was badly restricted. The volume did lessen slightly but soon crept up again. Not only that but every time the waiter returned to the table for any reason, he would make some jibe about my hearing (some of which, of course, I couldn’t hear!).Besides this, at no point did a waiter approach the table to ask if everything was all right with our meal or to see if we wanted anything else, they just brought food and cleared empties.Surroundings: Terrible atmosphere, cramped seating, intrusive music, flickering lights, burnt hole in the table cloth… I could go on, but I already have so I’ll stop.If everything else had been good, I’d go back to try a different dish that I usually like to make a fair comparison, but everything else was so unimpressive that I won’t be back. Rating 2/5. One not to bother with.
