Talk about history! Building dates from 1577 and it’s the place in 1651 where King Charles II escaped from Cromwell’s armies after the Battle of Worcester. Now it’s this beautiful, archetypal historical British pub – open fires, low ceilings, heavy woods, real ale on tap.Menu is also typically British in content but not in presentation – a fabulous deconstructed Ploughman’s Lunch on board arrived at my table along with a half of ale. Perfect lunch!
Beautiful food, very large portions so no need to bother with starter really. Very friendly and helpful. Decor bit stuffy and old fashioned, part of the charm I suppose.
