About
Limoncello is Cambridge's premiere Italian Delicatessan. The brainchild of proprietor Steve Turvill, it opened in Mill Road on August 28th, 1997 in premises only half its present size. The shop moved to its current location at 212 Mill Road in October 2001.Steve has had a life-long passion for Italian food that was triggered by his first experience of Panettone as a young boy. He carefully selects every product that the shop stocks himself, and makes frequent visits to Italy to find new delights to add to the range on offer to Limoncello's customers. Some 90% of the shop's stock is imported from Italy, including the four varieties of fresh pesto, olives, cheeses, meats and antipasti. Steve works with a myriad of suppliers in Italy and the U.K. to ensure the best quality products are available. The major line of non-Italian produce is the fresh-baked products. Steve takes daily delivery of fresh-baked bread from two local Italian bakeries (so one can choose between 'Cambridge bread' and 'Peterborough bread') and bakes on-site a range of baguettes and ciabatta. The fresh-baked baguettes and ciabatta are used for Limoncello's well-known and much-loved sandwiches. Each sandwich is hand-made to order and can include just about any combination of the fresh deli items in the store!
