What looked promising on the menu and from our initial impressions as we entered the establishment soon disappointed. Maybe it was because we didn’t have a reservation (despite a less than full room). Maybe it was because we were only two so the potential tip wasn’t considered all that worthwhile. Whatever it was, after the initial seating ritual, we didn’t rate any further attention. How long it took to deliver a glass of water (tap) and glasses of wine should have given us a clue to the rest of the staff’s efforts. Much easier to stand behind the bar and chat (a group of four at one stage….) than to have a circulate among the clientele.Anyway when the food turned up, 40 minutes after the initial order, we quite enjoyed the Sri Lankan fish curry and Whole baked Black Bream. Curry was delicious with generous chunks of fish, and shrimp with perfectly tender rice. The sauce was a standout and we used the accompanying roti to clean the plate. The bream was precisely cooked so the flesh was easily seperated from the frame. The accompanying salsa verde added a nice touch.A nice meal spoiled by the total lack of staff attentiveness and general lack of interest in their patrons. Even the bill was slow. We decided to start heading for the door before we were asked if we would like the bill. I would therefore recommend Fishy Fishy to a large, obviously extravagant group of diners who have no need for attentive staff.
