I had gone there one rainy afternoon being completely famished after searching around brighton. Being a bank holiday weekend it was extremely busy everywhere and chilli pickle was where we finally got to eat. I was mesmerized by the food there its so good. Infact being from india i did not expect to have authentic taste but they blew me away. A well deserved place to have a 5 rating
I have been here for my lunch time to try their street food menu which they’ll serve in the lunch time itself.Railway tray in very unique dish frm the menu.Restaurant has tried to give you an authentic Indian experience by keeping Old Bollywood Song playing in background, Open Tandoor section and Stainless Steel Cutlery.Street Menu for takeaway is much cheaper and recommended I had Chicken Biryani. Biryani was served with two Chutneys and raita (yogurt with cucumbers and Onion). As Indian I think food here is very closer to the food (Spices are tailored for British taste buds) we eat at in our home or Restaurant. We had also tried King Thali which is only available on Monday (except bank Holidays) between 12-3 pm for 10 which is usually for 15 on other weekdays.Ambiance is nice as well for a nice fine dining experience. For Dinner reservation much recommended for lunch you can walk inI think its slightly heavy on the pockets but worth it once I guess.ProsDeliciousValue for moneyOptionsAuthenticityConsEntire Experience 9/10Ambiance – 9/10dining experience – 9/10dcor- 9/10service 10/10
Initially went to this restaurant at its earlier, smaller incarnation in The Lanes. Now firmly ensconced in a much larger venue in Jubilee Square that a number of other restaurants have tried and failed to make work, it goes from strength to strength, building on its original menu to new fragrant heights.Best Indian I’ve been to in the UK. Sublime fresh light fish, tender meats, flavoursome vegetables alongside always fragrant and thoughtful herb/spice combinations. World’s away from a standard takeaway 😉
Excellent early evening meal.. We had heard that the Chilli Pickle was good but we were really surprised how good it was was. Apart from the oddity that meant that ordering a la carte was cheaper if ordering vegetarian options than having the set menu it was as good a meal as we (or indeed I) had had in the last year.
Honestly? Simply amazing food and even if the restaurant is very busy, the service is all smiles, polite and very efficient. One of my favourite in Brighton.
