These guys need Gordon Ramsey. Dropped in on a Sunday afternoon after taking our son up to Warwick University. The food took ages to arrive with no explanation given until we complained about how long it was taking (30 min + after ordering). When the food arrived it was frankly awful. Myself and my wife ordered the burger and was surprised that we weren’t asked how we liked it cooked, so expected medium not very well-done and shrunken. The buns were also close to burnt. My wife didn’t want cheese and bacon on her burger, so asked for some slices of raw onion, which only arrived after my wife had taken her last mouthful of burger! The chips were undercooked, soggy and a very long way from being crisp. My son described his haddock as OK but not as good as our local chippy, and again the chips were undercooked. Service was also awful, we even had to find own rack of condiments too! as they weren’t supplied with the cutlery! The waitress staff seemed overworked, as a table beside us had dirty plates left on it for some forty minutes, and were not cleared away even when we left. Easily the worst meal we’ve eaten in a very long time…

Lovely Pub, Great Drinks… Food is O.K. It’s pretty hard to fault the White Horse’s eclectic furnishing choices and fantastic range of drinks. Ale isn;t always served that well though, much better elsewhere… often a little too warm and flat (and I don’t like ice cold ale or the smoothflow stuff!) The food is changeable though, evening meals are standard fayre and relatively consistently good value but the lunches are often below par with a recent spiced chicken sandwich looking more like a curry in bread. Go there for the beer 1st, food 2nd.
