Ordered the fish and chips. It took 20 minutes to arrive, but i was in a group of 11 so maybe that was a factor. The fish and chips were good, a little bit soggy on the bottom. There are a few interesting meals on the menu so I reckon I’ll try something else next time I’m here.
Possibly one of the best roasts I’ve ever had and without a doubt the best I’ve had in London. I had the pork which was soft, slowly roasted and had perfect crackling. Cauliflower cheese and apple sauce was in abundance – it really was a huge plateful but of course I managed to finish it!Deserts were just as good, we shared a chocolate fondant and it was incredible, served with icecream. House red was fantastic too!All in all I would totally recommend this place, great food, great venue, great service!
Smallest portion I have ever had + bad service.. I have recently been to The Rose at a friend’s birthday party. We had to pre-order our food, two courses for 25. I ordered Date, Goats Cheese and Spinach Ravioli. To start with everyone’s food came over an hour later and then my dish took so long to arrive that everyone else at my table was finished by the time I got my portion. And when the portion arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were FOUR cold raviolis with some sauce on the plate. That was the entire MAIN course. The portion was a small starter at best.. It took me 30 seconds to eat it and I was still starving afterwards. The ravioli were tasty, I have to say, but you would need at least four times the amount to even begin to fill you up. Other people’s portions at my table were bigger but everyone agreed they would want more. The only decent size was steak (extra 5).For dessert, instead of a tart that I ordered, a plain lemon drizzle cake slice came topped with a bit of jam and a scoop of some weird sorbet/sugar mix. I had to pay 25 for that shambolic meal and cook dinner after I got home because of how hungry I was.. Absolutely unacceptable from a pub. It’s not a Michelin star restaurant with small portions, it’s a place where you would expect to have some food on your plate not just decoration.. NEVER going back to this place and telling all my friends to avoid it. The service was unfriendly and after we refused to pay discretionary service charge of which we were not notified beforehand, the girl was just plain rude..If you can avoid having food here, I recommend you do.
Nice Ambiance. I tried a few drinks at the Rose, which were well made. The place is very relaxing and quite big. They have couches, wooden chairs with tables and also high bar tables where to sit. It is a good place where to go with friends, because it is not too loud and you can find an intimate space with your group without problems. Also, the pub is not expensive and prices are average. You should spend around 30 for two people. I enjoyed the experience… but nothing over the top. Go there for a casual night out.
Lovely, Quaint…with Evening Buzz. This is one of the nicest little pubs I’ve been to in a while. Getting a table by the fire early in the year was a bonus. The food is lovely, and the drinks are great too – great range!Perfect place to socialise.
