We went to the Voodoo Ray’s place in Camden Market, near the Amy Winehouse statue. Had to go in to ask if they had gluten free dough as we were really going for pizza but they haven’t got it written on the menu. And we have discovered a really relaxed place to eat pizza by the slice. As our order was gluten free it had to be an entire pizza, which seamed like a reasonable size and price to split. We ordered a Giorgio Moroder (which is a vegetarian but really delicious) and absolutely loved the crunch on their dough and just the right amount of salt.

Voodoo Ray’s has a fantastic vibe about it and obviously very popular. It was a rainy Monday night when I visited and the place was pumping, and for a very good reason as I discovered. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the pizza was excellent. Sparse but flavoursome toppings staying true to the traditional Italian style of pizza with the bases being the real winner. There are a number of pizza options on the menu but be sure to ask about the chefs special for the night as well. Word of advice if you haven’t been there before, if possible try to get in early as some of the more popular pizzas sell out fast. Don’t despair though as there are plenty of other delicious options. The pizza hot spot in London! Went back the night after as I was so impressed with the thin crusted, generously topped slices. 4 suddenly seems much better value after you’ve tackled the epic sized slice. Highly recommend the fennel sausage pizza! The pulled pork was also pretty mouth watering. And Victorian craft beer- little creature- what a find!
I would call this place slightly American, as buying pizza by the slice and getting a decent slice for that matter seems very New York to me. I guess it does have that East London hipster vibe as well.I got a slice of the olive, sausage and white cheese (looked a bit like feta), which felt very Mediterranean to me and it tasted really nice. I also got a beer with it that I liked the packaging of but that was not particularly impressive.In general I did like the food and the atmosphere and it is a great place to go after you’ve had a few drinks on a night out. Not sure if I would cross the city to get there just for it but if I happen in the are and crave some pizza I’d be happy to visit again. darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com
Voodoo Rays has a casual, chilled out ambiance with stripped back but interesting decor. I really like how they have all the pizzas out on display – I always end up just pointing at the one that catches my eye. There’s a great variety of pizza types on offer too – including some tasty veggie options and a vegan slice too.I went for a slice of The Meat Is On, covered in minced steak, pepperoni, ham, pancetta, mozzarella and tomato sauce. And although it’s ‘only a slice’, Voodoo Ray slices are pretty darn big. I probably could have eaten two, but for a post night out snack this was just what I needed.
