Apostrphe is a good place when it comes to having a quick bite before your day starts or during a short lunch break. While the selection of the food offered is quite good, giving you the chance to choose from a wide range of paninis and pastries, things do run out quickly and hence, you might find yourself stuck with only a few residues if you go after 2:00 pm. Two of the things I enjoy eating most are the Pecan Caramel Danish and the Cinnamon Swirl, accompanied by a tall, icy (optional) cup of Apple and Beetroot juice. The service is often good, however it does get a little nerve-racking when you have to find a place to sit whilst holding your tray(s). Last but not least, while it is considered an economic place to eat, some of the prices do not respect my ideology of quality/price; some things being too expensive for what they truly are.

A pretty uninspiring experience at this cafe in Shoreditch. I really only wanted a quick nibble on my way out of the neighbourhood, so I ran into the next place I saw.I have to admit, I have avoided Apostrophe, because, while, it looks cute with its pink and black decor and open windows, it looked dangerously like a chain. It definitely doesn’t cary the same gritty charm that you come across in some of Shoreditch’s other venues, and it emanated a sort of reproduced quality: clean, tidy, and characterless. Sadly, my fears were pretty well founded. While this is no Starbucks or Eat, its food wasn’t much better. Actually, it was kind of worse (not speaking for coffees or other hot drinks, but purely food). My coconut macaron was one of the most dry, flavourless snacks I have ever consumed. If you can’t get coconut and sugar right, why bother?
