For the past few weeks, a colleague of mine has been bombarding me with photos of the Mast Brother’s doughnuts. As I had been wanting to try their brewed chocolate, I decided to stop by on Friday lunchtime, before they moved to their new factory down the road.My key lime pie donut (reasonably priced for their size, at 2.50) was intimidatingly large, but I didn’t let that put me off. I may have chosen my doughnut based on it’s devastatingly good looks, but luckily the flavour did not let me down. The Mast Brothers have managed to recreate a lemon meringue pie (laced with the slightest hint of lime) in a doughnut – perfection.The Madagascar brewed chocolate (3 a pot / 2-3 cups) was unlike anything else I had tried before. It smelt like chocolate but didn’t taste like your typical brown bar. The fruity notes came through loud and clear, whilst a subtle chocolate aftertaste hit the back of my throat. Not bad at all. In fact I’d have it again, and I’d try the others too. My suggestion: have it without milk. bloomzy.co.uk
