Visited Boxpark on Saturday late afternoon when the rugby world cup was on the big screens and grabbed a falafel box with a friend from Falafelicious. I had walked past it so many times but hadn’t tried, as she is veggie it made the most sense to eat here and I was so pleasantly surprised. Really good quality falafel, huge box with so many options to fill up yourself at the DIY bar and friendly staff. Would recommend and go again happily! Even blogged about it…
This is my lunch for most of the time during my lunch break! Located at boxpark it is perfect with its service and selection of salads. The falafel is delicious and the staff is great!
I had heard about Falafelicious from a couple of colleagues who recommended their colourful, giant salads. I headed there on a weekday at lunch time to find only one other person in the small Boxpark location (although this soon changed), which was probably best as there isn’t much space to move. It’s a pretty simple process; you choose your salad or wrap, then falafel, chicken schnitzel or salad only. I chose falafel and was given a large container, which I was free to fill with the various salad items on display.I was impressed that my falafel was cooked fresh to order, and by the variety of dishes on offer. Allowing customers to choose the fillings of the salad boxes themselves makes for a far more enjoyable experience in my opinion. It’s also easier for those who are a bit picky as to what goes inside their food. The dishes on offer were full of flavour, especially the garlic humous. Although I wasn’t a big fan of the olives or the chilli carrot. My only real complaint would be that the salad is far too expensive, even for such a large portion (I couldn’t finish mine). Instead it would be nice to see varying sizes and price points. I really enjoyed my salad and would definitely go back, but I would share one between two. bloomzy.co.uk
So I’d heard great things about this falafel, and it’s definitely really yummy, but nothing if travel across the city for, and I feel as though shoreditch has a lot to offer that could compete on a higher level. The falafel is good to grab and take with you if you’re late to get somewhere and haven’t had lunch. You get to choose whatever toppings you want on it too. I don’t know, maybe I’m not a fan of falafel’s themselves, but this isn’t a place to write home about.
Tucked away in the mysterious world of boxpark shoreditch, Falafelicous is the prime stop off point for a lunch time break. I ordered the falafel pitta, which was automatically accompanied with hummus, salad and other bits of yummy-ness. You are then allowed to add your own extra sides in a kind of healthy pick and mix. Obviously you add as much as you can, stuffing your pitta and pilling it high. Several sides which really stuck out for me were the beetroot, the chickpea and the fried aubergine. Sides that I wasn’t so keen on were the chilli carrot (despite the name I was still taken-a-back by how spicy it was), and the black olives (make sure you put them on the side as they aren’t pitted so makes chewing that bit trickier). Overall, really enjoyable visit to Falafelicous, ideal if you fancy a lot of food for only a fiver. Also there is a nice seating area right outside, which also has heating.
Surprised by how good this was, good value for money and always nice to sit on boxpark’s veranda. Perfect to grab a quick bite for lunch if you don’t fancy the heavier options it is surrounded by.
Amazing, gigantic pita for only 5 pound!Discovered this place today for lunch and so happy I did! The pita was huge as you got to stuff it with as many salads and sauces as you liked. And at only 4.95 it was a great very cheap lunch!I choose the whole meal pita bread, which was wonderfully fresh, with falafel also perfect with just the right amount of crunch! There were so many salads and sauces to choose from. The roasted Aubergine was a favourite, plus the carrot salad. Olives were a mistake, they aren’t pitted and very annoying to bite into amongst a sandwhich. Fail on my part. Upstairs box park is a great lunch spot with a huge variety of different foods to choose from and picnic tables with outside heating!
