I visited Que Viet with a friend for a post-Christmas catch up this week; it was my first visit whereas my friend had been before and loved the food.I had the summer rolls for starters, which I thought were generous portion wise. It tasted fresh and nice and I liked the accompanying dipping sauce which wasnt too strong. For my main I had a signature one dish meal, namely Bun thit Nurong Vietnamese crispy spring rolls & sliced charcoal grilled barbecued pork on rice vermicelli with a dipping fish sauce. I enjoyed my meal and it was quite filling; it was a welcome departure from the turkey and roast beef consumed at Christmas! I drizzled the fish sauce over my vermicelli to give it some light flavour. It seems that this restaurant is quite popular because it became quite busy while I was tucking into my main. They served a variety of people friends, couples, families. The waiters were friendly and professional; I felt comfortable at the restaurant and there was no rush to pay the bill after eating.Ive not tried the other Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road, so cant make a comparison. However Que Viet provided tasty affordable food and I left satisfied. lifeofchi.co.uk
This was our first experiment with Vietnamese food and I must say I was quite impressed by the quality and delicate flavours of the food served here. We were not very sure of what to order and hence decided to go for a random assortment and were pleasantly surprised! The squid was the highlight of the meal. Highly recommended!
I normally don’t use Que Viet because they are not BYO, unlike many of their competitors on Kingsand Road. I’ve eaten here twice in the past, and I remember having a really nice lunch special with great bun cha plus a starter. On another occasion I had substandard pho.I used them today for the home delivery service via the dinein website. I don’t think I ordered very well. I had lime cured goat with herbs, which could have benefited from more lime as it was quite sweet. It was also not rare as described, and somewhat overcooked for my taste. The rice patties that accompany this dish, according to the menu, never materialized. Pho rolls were another signature dish I found a touch dull. Pleasant fresh tasting steamed rolls stuffed with beef, lettuce and herbs. Prawn stuffed aubergine was not the dish I was expecting at all. At Song Que they do a prawn stuffed aubergine dish which is essentially Chinese. Small pockets of aubergine and green pepper are stuffed with a paste of cod and prawn and pan fried, fish side down. At Que Viet, prawn stuffed aubergine was a braised whole aubergine stuffed with tofu, dried shitake and a little bit of minced prawn. Rather stodgy and I wouldn’t order this dish again.Nice attention to detail in that different dipping sauces were served with the goat and steamed rolls.
Best vietnamese food in town. I have tried vietnamese food in some restaurants along Kingsland and decided to stay with Qviet . It actually doesnt look like a canteen, at the first sight Qviet looks really expensive but easy to pay..staff were helpful and willing to recommend . keep coming back
