The Crown and Shuttle is a popular bar on Shoreditch High Street. I’ve been in a few times both during the week and at the weekend. During the week it is a good place for after work drinks as there is a nice a buzz of people in the bar but on Friday and Saturday nights it is jam packed. Inside the bar there is a lovely friendly atmosphere with a mix of different genres of music playing in the background. There are various arm chairs, sofas and tables to relax in. Outside there is a gorgeous beer garden with fairy lights and heaters where you can enjoy your drinks until about 10.30pm. I have never eaten in the bar but the food always looks tasty. I would definitely recommend a visit to this bar, especially in the summer.

Describing itself as where ‘louche lives on’, it used to be a ‘sordid, sleazy, shabby, strip club’ languishing between Liverpool Street and its trendier sister, Shoreditch. As to be expected midweek on one of the hottest days so far, both bar areas and the garden were buzzing with a mix of cities and creatives but it didn’t take us long to get served.Inside, it’s all brick walls and warped wood tables. Mismatched chairs and splashes of red lend a touch of former decadence and the high ceilings and stripped wood bars give it a bit of a scrubbed up spit-and-sawdust appeal. Service is brisk with a decent wine list and quite an extensive beer menu, featuring some very local brews.Outside, you’re met with a unexpectedly large garden. Brightly painted tables, chairs, destination-less doors are scattered throughout and there’s a real welcoming feel here. We perched on some steps (no chance of getting a seat!) and people-watched, eyeing up the towering enamel bowls that came out of the onsite kitchen cart.Food’s ordered at the bar and there’s a great mix of smalls and larges – spicy wild white prawns with garlic caught my eye, as well as the greek salad (both 4.60). Others around us were opting for the chicken wings with mango chilli salad and BBQ spiced pork ribs, but we opted for a bowl of stringfries each – that come with a seasoning of your choice. A huge portion for 3, they definitely hit the post-work spot.Despite having lived East for almost 6 years, I’d never stumbled into this place before but it’s definitely somewhere to come back to. We stayed comfortably until the garden closed and we’d had our fair share of Estrella, leaving with the reluctance of those out on a ‘school night’. The Crown and Shuttle gets four and a half out of five, because I was so impressed – hopefully the half point will be awarded once I go back and fill my boots. thenotsosecretdiary.com

The Crown & Shuttle located in Shoreditch is a really nice place. The bar has a great atmosphere, especially around 5 o’clock when people come in straight from work to have a pint or two. They have a small, but varied bar menu, and the chips with parmesan cheese are to die for! In addition to lovely indoor facilities, they also have a charming beer garden outside.

I have been there on a Saturday night and the place was literally full. We were a group of 6 friends and we had a pleasant experience. I liked the atmosphere of The Crown & Shuttle, which is the typical one of any British pub. The music played was various and nice to hear. Indeed, they alternate dancing songs with songs to sing and relax. The drinks are okay and what you can expect from a pub. I had two malibu and coke, but you can ask anything else that comes with gin, vodka, tequila and rum. The service is fast. Prices are fine, around 5-7 for one drink. If you do not mind being in a crowd, I would suggest going with a group of friends on the weekend because I had a lovely experience.

Love this pub, really good selection of craft beers and ales. Huge beer garden that in the summer hosts a craft beer van. I am yet to eat here but all the food looks good.

In the sunshine, beer can only really be drunk outside. So in the search for a pleasant pub in Shoreditch, I came across the Crown and Shuttle.Only slightly intimidated by the giant, ID-demanding bouncer standing outside, I walked into this easily-passable pub, the inside of which looks pretty standard and pub-like. Drinks are reasonable, there’s a nice (but not overwhelming) selection and some bar snacks on the menu too. Service is always pretty prompt, even on the jam-packed Friday evenings I’ve been. What makes this pub stand out, however, is the wonderful beer garden out back. It is very spacious, and filled with overexcited workers (a mix of ‘city’ and ‘hipster Shoredicians’, but all of whom are joyous at the immediate combination of booze, sun and a social life). On a Friday, it is buzzing, and there is an excited chatter of people free from their office for the next 48 hours. There’s a good soundtrack overhead, and a tempting waft of parmesan fries and meaty burgers from the food van stationed outside.A great place definitely worth visiting on a sunny afternoon/evening but be warned that it shuts around 10.30/11 so as to avoid the drunken chatter disturbing the neighbours. londonismyplayground.wordpress.com

Looks like just a normal pub from the outside but has an AMAZING outdoor area that’s protected from the rain. Total surprise and went by coincidence. Great burgers too!
