We attended the soft launch. Front of house staff are still a little slow still during this rehearsal period, but kitchen service was very speedy. Food was all very good and good value even at full price. For my taste, I needed to reach for the salt shaker, but that’s not a problem. Our dinner for two without the soft launch discount would have been 58 including a bottle of very good house merlot priced reasonably at 20.We ordered everything to share, and got good advice from our waitress with how much to order. We started with fennel, orange and black olive salad. Nice and fresh with some blood orange segments as well well as peel on macerated orange slices. Next to arrive was tasty rabbit terrine, served with griddled bread, dressed parsley and creamy buttermilk based sauce. The grilled saffron halibut was excellent. It had a nice crunchy exterior, and the accompaniments of pomegranate and thinly sliced sauteed cauliflower were a nice punctuation. We each had a minted lamb chop. Extremely tender, because the knives which were so dull they couldn’t cut through cherry tomatoes easily went through the lamb. My companion did complain that they were a bit muttony in terms of taste, but certainly not texture. The stir fried seasonal vegetables were excellent too. Cherry tomatoes, kale, haricot verts, Chinese broccoli all blanched and then sauteed in butter. Everything bright and a perfect texture. Big portion too. The only dish which wasn’t excellent was our other side of frites with alioli. Obviously handcut as sizes were very irregular resulting in some big wedges being a little undercooked. A bit limp as well. However, extremely pungent alioli was great.
