The only thing this place has going for it is a quirky/cozy atmosphere. I found it difficult to understand how one messes up cheese fondue but they did it. Was oily and clumpy instead of creamy and smooth. Staff was scatterbrained and were terribly unapologetic when they spilt hot cheese fondue down the back of my friend. Wine was OK. All in all, a strange experience, which left me unsatisfied and a little confused.
Walluc has a job on its hands with all of the restaurants and cafes it has to compete against on this little street. It is small, doesn’t take cards (make sure you bring cash), and can sometimes be a little fickle with its opening times. To say their set up is casual, would be an understatement. That said, they serve gorgeous wine and even better fondue. Boundary rooftop recently entered the world of raclette, so cheese is obviously a thing in the area. Walluc does a divine job of keeping it real with fondue so authentic, you could just as well be on a Parisian street. The lighting is very very low, so it is not a great spot for taking good pics without the garish flash, but trust me, it is worth the visit for cheese and wine lovers! cookandpour.co.uk
A great evening. Great Italo-Swiss fondue and wine. Luca the owner is passionate about offering great food without the fuss. Was great to chat to him at the end of our meal and laugh at us Brits who are over-concerned about huge menus and choices. Luca keeps things simple, offers fondue only and only advertises wine price in format. I.e. 22 for a bottle regardless of what it is. Wine differs weekly depending on what his supplier brings, but as an Italian you know the choice is always great. Ensure you book a table to avoid disappointment and check its location on Google maps as its not clearly signed. Most Thursday’s host a live jazz night also! Keep your eyes peeled on their Twitter for dates. sophielovesfood.com
Great athmosphere great quality food wines are from small winemakers. Price very good
Great place – lovely atmosphere, fresh simple pasta and reasonably priced fondue…what more can you want?! A bit rough around the edges but that’s half the charm, and luckily this is one place in the area that has retained its charm.
