Visited this place on a late Saturday evening. I arrived in the area past 10 in the evening and most restaurants were about to close and all pubs were only serving drinks. I was hungry sso I decided to walk around and look for a place that still serves food. Luckily, I chanced upon Italian Steak House. I believe their kitchen does not close until 11 or even later. The place is relatively small and the interior basic. That was how I saw it from the front table I was seated in. I wasn’t able to go inner section to check out the decor and appreciate the overall design. The place was also relatively quiet apart from one big group. They were in a celebratory mood and seemingly had enjoyed a few drinks already. It was a late weekend night after all.I was pleased with the service that evening. At first, I did not get the attention from the staffs because they were preoccupied by the big group. The moment I was ready to order, one quickly approached my table. She made a few recommendations but it was late and I did not want to think about, so I went for a safe option – spaghetti carbonara. I did tell her that I will go with her dessert pick. She said her favourite was the home-made tiramisu. I quickly agreed for I am also a tiramisu lover. In a display of efficiency, my pasta was served in no time. The plating was rudimentary; it was basic and clean. The pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce had a rich cream and cheese flavour. There was a bit too much sauce and cheese on the plate resulting to the carbonara being too creamy and cheesy. It would have been better with slightly less sauce and with the cheese served on the side. It was not bad though and I was able to finish the entire serving. The tiramisu did not look appetising on the plate. The plating did not do justice to this dessert. It was really delicious. I loved the layers of flavours. The bitter cocoa powder on top was a good contrast to the sweet, milky and subtly tangy mascarpone cheese. Then there was the coffee taste that went stronger as you go down the layers. It finished off with a hint of liquor that tantalised the taste buds. The whip cream and chocolate syrup drizzles were unnecessary additions. The tiramisu was enough to stand on its own merit. Overall, it was an ok experience. I may have been unfair to this restaurant because my review was based on a pasta dish and not on steaks which I assumed to be the house specialty. I will try that in my next visit and I promise to update this review then.
