Unfortunately the worst food I’ve had in London this year. Unfriendly service, torn seating, substandard food. All round bad experience and surprisingly out of character for Kingly Court.
Have had very solid delivery from here multiple times. Consistency of certain things they do is very impressive. Chicken guotie (8/10) – A very doughy, yet cooked through dumpling. The dumpling skin has a firm chew and a lot of texture to it. The chicken meat within is moist and well seasoned.Char siu bao (8/10) – A favorite of mine, these are some of the best in the city. I rate them over ones at nearby competitors Yauatcha and Duck and Rice (both of which also make capable char siu bao). The dough is cooked through the entirety of the dumpling (often times I find that there are soggy, undercooked or overly doughy bits that make bites less pleasant.) yet the dumpling itself remains moist. The meat inside is fully flavored with just enough sweetness.Crispy chili beef (7/10) – A perfect accompaniment to a steaming bowl of rice. The beef is slightly sweet and spicy. The promised crispness is delivered.Crispy noodle with shredded chicken (7/10) – Well made noodles, a balanced sauce (the sauce that accompanies this can often be overly salty), and well cooked ingredients. I often find that these noodles end up greasy, but that was not the case here.Chinese Style BBQ pork (4/10) – You’ll be able to find better reiterations of this in Chinatown. The pork is a bit dry and the flavor muted. I suspect that the meat isn’t marinated for very long. All in all this is a place that I find myself going back to often for delivery. The food is consistently of high quality and it manages to always sate my cravings for Chinese. instagram.com
This restaurant has been busy everytime I come here for a spot of dinner created by Alan Yau. The same guy who founded the chain Wagamama & high end restaurant such as Hakkasan. This one however is an affordable eatery though rather noisy at time and cramped. The food was above average, smaller in portion size but the service could have done better.
A little bit greasy but hearty Chinese grub. The quality is a little average to be perfectly honest and the portion is quite small. It tries to copy the wagama a formula but doesn’t quite get there. Not bad for a quick meal but would suggest elsewhere for a proper dinner.
One good thing about having any sort of meeting in a corporate environment is the offering of nibbles, drinks and alcohol. Considering the inaccesibility to alcohol consumption posed by the British in regards to poor Eastern European students such as myself, these events are god sent. What better way, then, to spend a short after party than in a little Chinese restaurant?Certainly, I say small but I mean it simply as a matter of speech. I have been in small restaurants and that generally implies about 4 seats in the back of what seems to be either a van or a small toilet, which is certainly not supposed to be able to hold 4 grown humans. This space is rather spacious, with long wooden tables that kind of you are going to share your table whether you like it or not that Asian cuisine enjoys. The food was alright. It was very fast Ill give you that. But not necesarily inspiring. The Singapore noodles seemed to be a modern fusion version that decided that taste was much too traditional and classic. Eff you, taste, we dont need you, the dish seemed to declare. Typical modern art.The calamari was good enough then again all you do is you fry the beast after you chopped it into tiny pieces. The Szichuan wontons with the spicy chilli sauce were also eatable, yet hardly spicy and the meat inside the wonton lacked flavour.Thats it for now, folks. Short, snappy, to the point, with slight influences from perhaps a tiny bit too much alcohol. secretemple.com
My friend and I went there on Friday night, have been there many times … Nice simple place, great location, nice Asian food, friendly and efficient service, tasty laksa , Malaysian curry . Tasty green tea gelato…
