I came to el camion last night for dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and cozy and staff is very nice. Prices are good. We had tortilla with fiaccola that were very good. Plates are very rich! We had a burrito that came together with rice and salad (included) that tasted good. We also had a salad with grilled fish. The salad was rich as well, it cames with taco and tortilla included. Fish was not amazing and it didn’t actually taste so good. Btw I will definitely come back to try the chicken and the typical Mexican meat which suit probably more the Mexican cuisine! We paid around 28 all together (we drunk coke and water)At the end…I recommend this place!

Browsing through my Twitter time line just before lunch, I saw their Twitter handle welcoming lunch goers around Soho with the hashtag #getinmytummynow. And at the spur of the moment, the decision to explore this place was made. The Mexican adventures continued. At the door in all his Mexican grandeur stood Hank (pictured below) . What a welcome!! The place is colorful. Have a look at the artwork on the table. Loved it. The walls are adorned with a lot of Mexican stuff with one wall full of Mexican sauces. So far so good.I went for the #wetburrito with grilled fish while my colleague opted for the Yucatan beef Enchiladas. The burrito came with some Mexican rice and salad. Two key features of the food – huge portions and excellent plating. The food was inviting right from the time the plates were laid on the table. The grilled fish in the burrito was excellent and so were the enchiladas. The place has the popular Pink Chihuahua cocktail bar downstairs and even has a late night menu serving till about 2:30 am. For us it was an excellent lunch, which demanded a siesta immediately. Oh but for the perils of working
I actually have dreams about the food at El Camion. Seriously, I have never had cravings for anything like I crave the nachos and wet burritos here. Not heard of wet burritos? They are like your usual flour tortilla wraps, complete with meaty filling, black beans and oozing sauce, but they’re also smothered in a delicious enchilada sauce. When they arrive on the plate, they look absolutely HUGE and you’ll wonder how you’re going to finish them. Within twenty minutes your plate is scraped clean. And you’ll think you can’t fit anything else in, but then you’ll order the churros and be transported to a hot sidewalk in Baja California, buying these hot donut-esque treats from a stall and dipping them into melted chocolate. Amazing. But food isn’t the only thing to come to El Camion for (even though that’s what often draws me here). The cocktails are incredible. Often I’ll start upstairs, drinking my go-to cocktail of a margarita (the Tommy’s margarita is amazing), but also they make these things called Batidas which are like frozen alcoholic slushies with cachaca and condensed milk. Then if you fancy a more raucous night out head downstairs to the Pink Chihuahua basement bar (you can ask to become a member and fill out a form), then spend the evening necking Pink Chihuahua cocktails. Or just ask a member of the passionate bar team what you’d like and they’ll whip you something up. A good night is definitely on the cards when it comes to El Camion.
I’m a huge fan of El Camion. It’s a laid back joint, unpretentious, and I always have a great time here with my friends. It’s perfect for big meals with friends or small meals for a date – whatever occasion it is, El Camion is relaxed, vibrant and fun. Oh, and did I mention the food?! I love it – it is feast food at its best.It can be hard to find a good Mexican in London that isn’t a chain or where you’ll pay over the odds. The prices here are reasonable, the portions are big and the food is homemade, fresh and delicious! Love the jalapeo poppers and home-cut tortilla chips to snack on – and I always order a second portion of the guacamole cos it’s so good! I’ve probably tried everything on the menu but the wet burritos are hard to beat – so yummy and bursting with filling! I also ALWAYS have churros for dessert. Man, they are so good. Also, if you come here, do not leave without trying the margaritas! They are cocktail crazy here and they know how to make everything. The margaritas rock though and the Tommy’s one with a dash of agave syrup is probably my fave. Also the Espresso Martini is pretty special as its inventor is the head barman here. After you’ve stuffed yourself to bursting point, you can dance it all off downstairs in the basement bar, The Pink Chihuahua. It is known for late night debauchery!
Friday night means Soho (we need to go to Shoreditch soon!) But this is too close to home. Anyway, a friend was really excited about taking us here.We booked a table and absolutely loved the food! They have a wall full of quirky looking Tabasco bottles each with different, mostly racy labels. Love it!The drinks are yummy.. So many tequila and cachaca based cocktails!Home of the espresso Martini. Yup. The owner here invented the drink. They have a bar underground. Better music and open till 3 am.Have a good night out!
