A hidden treasure! It offers a wide range of traditional and tasty Palestinian food from musakhan to maglobeh to falafel etc. The owner was in the restaurant and she was very friendly and welcoming. A must try!

Was hoping for some home-cooked style Palestinian food, but I was disappointed. It’s very much restaurant style cuisine, which is ok buy lacks a certain authenticity to the dishes. It’s also overpriced for what it is, for 14, I’d expect something a bit more elevated than a small, circular bed of rice and a bit of meat on top.

There is a wide range of restaurants doing food of the Levant in London. I probably prefer the downmarket ethnic restaurants around Edgeware Road where prices are low, portions are hearty, but are not much to look at. On occasion I will fork out more for a really creative upmarket Levantine experience at Morito or Ottolenghi. And then there are the hip and trendy places like Berber and Q.Tabun kitchen is something in between. A very pretty modern space where you could bring a date or elderly relative. The kitchen is quite classic though. Perhaps we weren’t adventurous enough with ordering. We had two mains from the grill section of the menu and two sides. I was happier with our sides. Moutabel dressed up with pomegranate seeds was rich and tasty. The bread it came with hadn’t been warmed, which is something that’s usually done even at the basic ethnic restaurants. Za’tar fries with toum were really good. Crunchy, not oily tasting, and a generous serving of toum garlic sauce was delicious.Mains were prettily presented, but portions were quite dainty. We shared a mix grill (lamb and chicken kofta, and a few cubes of marinated chicken breast) and the vegetable grill (a paprika and half an aubergine). Not cooked over charcoal, which is what I would expect at a simple ethnic cafe. Nothing special, but pleasant enough with some nice vegetable garnishes. I think the mezzes and sides are a better bet here than the mains, and are more keenly priced. But in this price range I prefer the creativity of the Good Egg in Stoke Newington (a poor man’s Ottolenghi). Or spend a few pounds more and have a really refined mezze inspired meal at Morito in Hackney. A bottle of pleasant house red was 21. There were several wines under 30. We used a discount voucher from the London On The Inside website, valid until the end of November 2016. At full price our meal would have been 63.
