I think the #michelin star @dabbouslondon not only deserves its star , i think it actually deserves another one. To me this place embodies how high quality ingredients and simplicity can result in the best food!!Really loved it and I highly recommend it ! 🙂 I ordered the tasting menu 🙂

The food is terrible. The cooking is terrible. The service is terrible.Visited as a family treat we had the tasting menu for 4 people. With high expectations given the press on the chef. The setting is simple, warehouse-esque and clean. The food was the worst I’ve eaten in a London restaurant. Fish was over cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. Pork was almost entirely fat and inedible. A leaf covered in icing sugar presented in hand for one of the 9 courses is ridiculous (perhaps served as a surprise cleanser between courses may have appealed to some) – however for us it only frustrated further as we saw a procession of tiny portions of poor dishes being completed as our hunger grew.Staff were off-hand and acted surprised and disinterested if we raised any complaints.A bill of 600 for 4 for exceptionally poor food and insulant service is embarrassing when there is such a diverse selection of excellent dining establishments in London. We won’t be returning – the owners should be ashamed. I certainly was mighty disappointed as I’d promised my mother a fabulous experience. We ended up going around the corner to the Charlotte Street hotel for a meal as we were all still hungry.

I am lucky enough to have been to quite a few Michelin restaurants. I have absolutely no idea why this restaurant has a star. Maybe they have gone downhill? The main problem is the ambiance. It is loud. Really loud. The acoustics are terrible. On a table of 4 you can’t hear at least 2 of you. Terrible music is banging in the background for absolutely no reason. We even asked them to turn it down, which to their credit they did. However it remained super noisy due to the bareness of the place. The food was OK in places. The starter very good. The cod good but greasy, the lamb very tough. I left it as it was inedible. The rhubarb crumble tasty but very rich and would have been equally at home in a gastro pub. There are no table cloths, nobody took away our bread plates, my lamb dish was shoved only half on the table as it (of course) did not fit on the overfull table. But my cocktail was taken away before I had finished it and the waiter became immediately defensive and showed attitude when I expressed my genuine disappointment. (The cocktail was delicious). When he begrudgingly made me a tiny little new one it did not taste anything like the first one. There is no passion nor love or pride for anything they serve. The staff must have been briefed to be modern/trendy and it simply does not work if you are meant to be a Michelin star restaurant. Perfectly fine for pub food, albeit totally unmemorable. As it was, very memorable, for all the wrong reasons. Oh, did I mention the 115 per person bill for this event?

Went alone for lunch to the set menu while my friends that live in London were working. Liked how fresh and innovative it was, starting from the bread in the paper bag to the ‘petite four’s. Great selection of cocktails and wines by glass. The lamb as main course was a definite winner for me: the broad beans were so fresh as if just picked from the garden and complimented the lamb perfectly. Also the desert I’m forgetting the exact combination but dessert was ice cream on earth looking choco-dirt with pecans and brioche in the end was just the perfect finish to my meal. Service: professional, friendly. The restaurant has a great young atmosphere and is modern and unpretentious, even though have michelin star, the interior is a little Shoreditch try-hard..

I went to Dabbous with my partner last night for an anniversary dinner. We were welcomed warmly, had a delicious cocktail and were placed in a lovely corner in the dining area, which had a great atmosphere. We opted for the tasting menu… and unfortunately were sorely disappointed! Some of the courses were good (such as the kale and chestnuts, but I think I could have easily made something similar at home if I used that much butter!) and there was one delicious course (the skilfish – mmmm!), but the other courses fell somewhere between average and absolutely disgusting. I sent back the last course (an avocado cream with pistachio ice and some kind of oily/bitter cake) as it actually tasted awful, as opposed to the peculiar tastes of some courses. After sending the avocado dessert back, I was provided with a pancake, which was rubbery and also didn’t taste good (how can you mess up a pancake??). Positives – the staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was relaxing and the tasting wines we had with each course were spectacular! The wines had obviously been chosen very carefully and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and interesting. It didn’t occur to me to complain after each course as that would have spoiled our evening and I did have a good time, but overall the food was, frankly, bad and has (literally and metaphorically) left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand that the tasting menu is new to 2016, so I can only hope our experience was the result of some experimentation! We chose Dabbous from a recommendation (and were really excited after reading previous positive reviews), but the menu we had definitely wasn’t worth a fraction of the money we spent.
