We arrived over an hour and a half early for our table – (we had over estimated the time we would spend at the zoo with our five year old). They accommodated us with a table in the restaurant without batting an eye lid, so we could sit, drink and relax and order our food when we were good and ready. Went to the bar for the first round of drinks – a pint of beer and bottle of wine. , Had to point at the wine choice on the menu three times over a three minute period for the barman to understand which one I wanted, and getting the order ready to leave the bar took several minutes more by the time he went to get the wine …. then went to get the card machine. Given a white wine glass for a bottle of red, which was corrected without prompting by the waiting once I got back to the table. Ordered food, which took a while to arrive, that said, we were not overly bothered as had drinks, and enjoying having a bit of family time. Food was lovely. Children’s menu could (if I had any suggestion at all) include a veg i.e., daughter had sausage and mash which you would think would come with carrots maybe, but a minor thing. After mains were cleared we asked to see desert menu. Daughter wanted ice cream and we wanted … well probably chocolate. :-))) We were told that chef was sending something from the kitchen to acknowledge the starters had taken such a long time to arrive. We really had not noticed, and while on reflection they had taken a long time, we had not complained or chased,as enjoying family time but appreciated the offer and accepted. Asked for the menu so that we were able to order desert wine etc. They did not arrive. Asked three more times, each time told it was because chef was sending something, which while great, did not clarify if ice cream was included for daughter and we still wanted desert wine. Eventually menu arrived, drinks ordered. Hurray! Desert platter arrived, and yes it had ice cream (phew!!!) and was lovely and completely over the top (i.e., more than we would ever have ordered or expected), bur drinks no where to be seen. Desert finished, no drinks – three requests later, desert plates cleared and finally drinks arrived just as we were about to tell them it was to late. A really lovely gesture not ruined but tarnished. Told by the serving staff that the bar missed the ticket – but we had three people go and chase for us … so not sure what happened there. A pleasant experience, good food, but slightly tarnished by the inability to join us the desert and the drinks, and the lack of communication around desert (which again, was a lovely and much appreciated gesture). Would go back but would not go out of my way to go back.

Had booked table for two – dinner date. The food was very Gordon Ramsay-esque. I ordered the squids from the starters which were undoubtedly one of the finest squids I’ve had – I’d highly recommend if you like squids. The staff was very hospitable and although we were an hour late, we were accommodated. Of course, I made a courtesy call, informing them about our delay. However, the restaurant seemed very small and although I had mentioned that it is a date, the table allotted to us wasn’t the best one. The chairs especially looked I’ll maintained. Didn’t give a very Gordon Ramsay feel. However, if you’re not fussy about the ambiance, this place is highly recommended for its food and of course, the hospitality. Costs about 100 for two.

Came here for a lunch, we had salt and pepper squid, beef tartare, king prawns, burger, fish and chips. All of the food was great, particularly the beef tartare! Atmosphere was good and service was great, although we did feel a little rushed at times.Definitely going to come here again!

This has become one of my favourite spots to visit after a stroll through Regent’s Park. Tastefully decorated with a great atmosphere. The desserts are very good (you expect them to be at 7 each). This time round I had the lemon posset, which is lovely and lemony and creamy, but the topping was a bit too wet. Tried the chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream, which was also lovely and the banoffie cheesecake – yum, all the flavours are perfectly balanced. Service is rather charming too.

For a Gastropub food was quiet good. Cheese platter and the pizzas. Service for drinks was a bit slow but helpful staff and freindly. Fantastic location and good for a relaxing night out. Not noisy for a London eatery.

A delicious meal in lovely, lovely setting. Great cocktails, an extensive menu and a really lovely place to spend a Friday evening. Don’t miss the scallops and chorizo if they’re on offer! alicemaypurkiss.co.uk
