Classic English pub! Located conveniently outside Waterloo station, This pub honours the Duke of Wellington for winning the battle of Waterloo. It has high curved ceilings with murals painted depicting the war. Food and drinks average. Worth a visit if wanting to experience English culture in all its glory. Vaibhav Kabra

If you’re hungry or looking to grab a drink with a larger group around Waterloo, this pub is a very good option. It is quite big on the inside and the decoration is very nice, with Wellington’s battles painted as a huge mural on the ceiling.Since I was looking for food after work I tried the pork schnitzel, one of the specials on the menu which came with a fried egg and cold pasta and I was very happy with my order. The meal was quite filling so I struggled a little bit to finish it while also wishing I could have more, not because I was hungry but because I was really enjoying it.On a Monday night the pub is not too crowded so you’ll be able to find a seat easily. They also have screens on the wall so you can watch football if a game is on. I will probably go back to try more of the food and see what the pub is like during the day too. darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com

En route to Kingston, my friend and I grabbed a bite to eat a the Wellington mainly because of its convenient location across the road from the Waterloo Station. The pub is named after the Duke of Wellington and the interior pays homage like a museum with paintings and art throughout. There are numerous tables available throughout and you need to find a table first so you can give the bartender your table number when you place your food order.I ordered what turned out to be the messiest of burgers that was falling apart (definitely not something you would want to eat if you were on a date, lol). The chips were hot but needed quite a bit of salt for flavouring.I would recommend the location for its convenience and the ambiance. The food is decent but there are better Fullers pubs throughout London. thejoyousliving.com

The Wellington is a busy pub near Waterloo station, serving a mixture of commuters, local hospital staff from St Thomas’s and tourists seeking accommodation near the station. It has high ceilings and comfortable chairs, but the emphasis is really on just getting a decent standard of service given its high volume turnover. The food is typical of a Fuller’s pub, but they have specials of the day to set them apart a little. That said, when I went there with two friends last week the specials weren’t that special and the only one our party ordered (the kangaroo steak burger for a tenner) they had run out of, even though it was only 6.30pm.My friends ordered the 35 day dry-aged 8oz rump steak with grilled tomato, mushrooms, chips and onion rings (14.95) and the breaded wholetail scampi with chips and peas (11.95).The steak wasn’t that impressive and the plate looked like a mixed grill fry-up, and the scampi was, well, just scampi.I ordered the Cumberland sausages and mash in red wine and thyme gravy (9.95), which was fine, but you know whenever you order sausages and mash from a restaurant/pub that the menu has pretty much failed to interest you. What went down best were the two bottles of Marques del Atrio we drank, a blissful, fruity Spanish rioja (17.95 a bottle). Overall it was an OK pub, but not a place I would recommend for dining out in.

Peak times of the day The Wellington is packed with commuters awaiting their next departure. Sitting directly opposite Waterloo station it is the ideal place for a drink out of station grounds. Finding a seat can be difficult but it doesn’t take long before they are available. The drinks and prices are what is expected for a chain bar/restaurant, classic pub with a long history.

The room I stayed in was very basic for 95 notes. Tellingly, two sets of earplugs on the desk…..hmmm I wonder why?! It wasnt the amorous neighbours! The pub has good writeups, but the decoration and facilites in the rooms are at the low end compared to the beer.

This is a well known, traditional pub located practically opposite waterloo tube station. The interior gives it a regal and majestic feel. It is usually quite busy, being a popular place to hang out for people after work. Drinks are average price, what one would typically expect at a pub in central London. Staff was efficient and we were served our drinks promptly at the bar. The crowd mostly comprises of middle aged and elderly people. The pub is usually packed and quite noisy but it is sometimes possible to find a corner table and enjoy a long conversation. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would visit it again.
