My favourite place and home delivery place in the world! The hainanese chicken rice may just be rice and chicken to you but it’s amazingly close to home for me. The laksa and seafood ho fun are good slurpy options. One of those places where the service and the old patronage is testament to how special this place is. I go here for my comfort food time and time again. I don’t know how I would have survived otherwise!! @singapore_gardens

The Rudest Staff Ever. I had an unpleasant visit once when we were turned away very impolitely because we had not made a booking. I just ordered food from them to be delivered and I specifically mentioned the driver needed to have change for a 50 note, when the food was delivered the driver said he did not have enough change, then I had to call the restaurant and the woman very impolitely said that you have to send the food back and you did not tell us. I will never order or go there again since the food is not that amazing anyway.

Got a takeaway from this place recently. Nothing wrong with the service but for the price we paid, I would expect better food. It wasn’t bad food but it wasn’t good either. Bland and lacking in flavour. Would not recommend. I suspect this restaurant is trading on its previous success. A real shame and probably indicative of its customer service approach as experienced by other reviewers.

DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT. The food is nothing special given its prices. In fact some of the dishes are even smelly and bad enough to give you a stomach ache the next day. The staff is cold and unfriendly starting with the manager of the restaurant. I have never met a restaurant hostess as cold and unpleasant as this one. Nothing personal but this lady has serious lack of customer skills. The prices are already high enough as it is and they have a 12.5% service charge added on top of that!!! So if you plan to go there especially without a reservation expect some attitude regarding if you can be seated and where you can be seated (or at least dont expect a warm and smiley welcome)and also expect to pay at least 40-50 ahead without alcohol for a normal meal. They are stingy with everything, which table you can sit on, how long you can sit for, and there is nothing complimentary such as a mint at the end to say the least. Weve been at least twice in a year thinking maybe it was a bad day the first time but i feel it gets worse and worse. The food overall is average and it is definitely no value for money. They rip off people because they feel they can and also given its location the locals that go tend to be wealthy st johns wood residents who havent experienced better singapore or malaysian food in their lives so think it’s ok to spend 40-50 per person. There are better and cheaper restaurants in town.

Very Rude. The food is average and the Manager is really rude. Save money and go elsewhere.

DISGUSTINGLY RUDE. What an embarrassment to Singapore and to all other restaurants. Rude service I’ve ever had. The female manager needs some proper customers service training , her attitude is unacceptable in this business. DO NOT GO THERE

RUDE!!!!. Myself and my husband visited Singapore Garden for a quick pre theatre bite to eat on a Friday evening. When the bill came, as is becoming customary, a 12.5% service charge had been added automatically. We paid by credit card and I asked for the charge to be taken off the bill. Our plan was to leave 10% in cash – an amount we thought more reflective of the average service and also in the hope that a cash tip would actually make it to the pocket of the waiters. The manager was called over and she proceeded to tell us in no uncertain terms how disgraceful it was that we weren’t going to pay the charge as the money went to pay the waiters’ wages and that if we weren’t prepared to pay the service charge she suggested that we eat at home in the future!!! We were totally gobsmacked!! So rude!! Anybody would have thought we were refusing to pay the whole bill, not a discretionary payment!! A very embarrassing situation especially as all of the tables in the restaurant are very close together (uncomfortably so if you ask me). Needless to say we left without leaving any tip at all and as we passed the manager at the front desk she muttered ‘disgusting’ under her breath – great customer service!! All in all a distressing experience which left us with a very sour taste in our mouth. Anyone eating here can expect ok food but very overpriced. Make sure you pay the tip in cash as it seems to me that there is some dodgy practice going on with the service charge.
