Visited Randa after a relaxed afternoon in Holland Park. The restaurant is fancy and prpfessional, staff are very courageous and available. The food itself was super enjoyable, although I was still very full at the time. Shared some Lebanese pastries and halloumi with the wifey, and tried bits and pieces from what my other two friends ordered and the quality is undeniable. I felt that the price was a bit too much though. But if Maroush is good enough to cater for the queen’s birthday party… they are definitely onto something!
We were a group of friends, we had the Randa Special set menu. Maybe our choice was not the wisest as some of the starters/dishes were good and others just average. The service was ok despite the waitress at first told us the menu for four could serve the six of us. Anyway maybe the Randa Special set menu is not the best choice and next time we will try a mix of starters and dishes instead.
I was not familiar with the restaurant although I have of course heard of the Maroush group and I used to be a regular at their Juice Bar on Edgware Road years ago. The restaurant is spacious but not massive, and from the outside quite unassuming. The service was friendly and the menu is extensive. We tried a few starters, mains and desserts. Amongst the starters, I loved the baba ganoush, really smoky and creamy, and the hummus was good as well as their mouhamara, spiced nuts blended into a fiery paste. The tabbouleh was also very fresh. The grilled chicken main was ok, I found it dry but I enjoyed the spicy dip that came with it. I was not impressed by the cod fillet, but I liked the rice, full of crispy onions and pinenuts. The huge fresh fruit platter we had at the end was good. The meat is halal, but no information was given when I asked about provenance of fish or meat. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing especially on their business lunch platters. Amongst the wines, we enjoyed a lebanese rose Chateau Ksara.I was invited to taste Randa’s food. pastabites.co.uk
We came here for lunch during a weekday and it was very empty! However, my friend had heard previous good reviews about the place so we gave it a try. Although it’s nothing elaborate (decor wise), the price was very high which I guess was expected for a Knightsbridge restaurant. The waiters were very kind and offered us complimentary salad as there were no other customers. The food was also exquisite and true to it’s Lebanese roots. The portion sizes are quite large, so I would suggest sharing one between two as we had a lot left over.Overall we were very pleased with our experience at Randa and I would definitely come again.
Very good, consistent Lebanese food. It is not cheap – cost us nearly 80 for two so if eating on a budget just stick tons few things. The mixed grill, although nice, is overpriced. But classic meze is delicious.
