About
The Station House pub reopened it's doors on Thursday night 23 November 2016 for a special guest preview evening. The pub has been taken over by new licensee Darren Gillett, an experienced restaurateur who has worked at a string of well-known London venues including Gaucho Grill, Rainforest Cafe and Conran Restaurants, and has been joined by Head Chef, Marianne Wit who has also had stints at a number of London restaurants, including La Trompette in Chiswick and the Glass House in Kew, both Michelin-starred. Guests at the preview evening enjoyed sampling some of the delicious dishes from the new small plates menu (1 for 4.95, 3 for 11.95 or 5 for 21.95) which Marianne has been designing and perfecting over the last few months. They included twice cooked pork belly, chickpea fritters & green Harissa, hamhock croquettes with Brakspear beer & mustard dip, roasted aubergine tossed in sesame, spring onion & soy sauce and crispy squid with mint parsley and lemon mayonnaise. All small plates are designed as a simple option so the hungry can opt for few plates and enjoy it as a main meal while the peckish can just have one plate or a few plates to share. The menu will also offer some pub favourites such as fish & chips, sausage & mash and burgers, as well as a changing specials board. Diners with a sweet tooth can choose from desserts such as cheesecake with salted caramel sauce or fruit salad with Champagne granita, while on Sundays, a brunch menu offers several egg dishes as well as more unusual items such as chorizo & tomato pan and tortilla. The interior of the pub has seen a small refresh with a few more tables added to the main dining area at the back. "We are open, excited and have been made very welcome. Myself and Marianne are looking forward to the future now as we have really been inspired by the local communities positive response to us opening our doors.
