When my friend told me she’s taking us to Olive Garden, I thought straight away of the American chain Italian restaurant. But what can I not say about this place. On walking there it just had this lovely home-y look about it. Inside was cosy and empty when we got there for about 18:30 (I think). Now, I have not been a fan of restaurant Italian food because it always tastes like tomato and pasta which I am not fond of. So I had my reservations. We actually went here on a recommendation from my friend’s work colleague. She has been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years!! Our waitress was lovely and took our order. Did I mention that by the time we got there, we were so hungry! We ordered our starters. I got pizza dough garlic bread with rosemary (I love garlic!), my other friend got calamari fritti and the other bread and olives. We all enjoyed our started and the olives were delicious. The calamari wasn’t to my friend’s tasting (She expected it to be seasoned like another restaurant) but upon squeezing the lemon juice on it she enjoyed it. For mains we all got pastas. I got trofie alla siciliana, my friends both ordered the spaghetti marinara but one swapped chilli sauce for the white wine sauce. Oh yes, one of my friends wanted linguine but the waitress said they rarely have linguine (is that odd for an Italian restaurant? I don’t know).Well, we waited so patiently.. For three hungry girls for our food. Watching plates go to other tables, we even asked for the dessert menu whilst waiting as we were soo hungry! Eventually our food came all at the same time and I looked suspiciously at mine thinking, ‘another tomato and pasta dish’. But lo and behold to my surprise, it was full of flavour!! The sauce was delicious! The ticket went extremely well with the pasta and sauce. I had feta on top but I am not a fan so I put it aside. The portion size was amazing. I lapped up that pasta and my stomach was well pleased. My friends also enjoyed their dishes. The seafood was to their liking and they loved the flavours too. We were really surprised at how yummy the food was. I definitely will be coming back regardless of the distance from me. Such a lovely restaurant. Oh and maybe 30 minutes after we arrived it was probably half full!
Their lasagna is the best! I definitely recommend Olive Garden if you are looking for a cozy Italian restaurant serving up traditional dishes. Their price is just about right and you absolutely get your money’s worth!
Me and my family we are regular customers in Olive Garden and it is our favourite place to go if we are hungry and fancy nice food. We absolutely love the food, service and atmosphere. I have just read the last review and I was very surprised. I cant believe taht someone was unhappy with food. It never happened to us. I can truly recommend Olive Garden it is very nice and familiar restaurant with good prices and very helpful waiting staff.
The best italian restaurant in london. Visited Olive Garden on Saturday 21st September for the first time with my family as we just moved to Southfields recently. I was shoked the restaurant was absolutely packed, but they told us to wait and in few min we had our table ready. The service was very good, very professional and very quick. They really worked very hard. Food delicious, perfectly cooked. My housband had a fish from specials the best fish he had in ages. I had spaghetti marinara was recommenede by waiter and yes indeed verry good dish and very nice portion of seafood. Children very happy, very nice children menu for a very good price. I loved it. We will be back every week from now. We were adviced to book a table during weeknds because it gets very busy in just a few minutes restaurant is full. Thanks to the very nice Manager (Older guy) he really made us feel welcome. Thank you Olive Garden for a good night we had 🙂
Avoid. My girlfriend and I tried to have breakfast here this morning. The new breakfast menu has been well publicised and having both eaten here before and enjoyed the food we had high expectations. How wrong could we be!!I had the eggs benedict and my girlfriend had the vegetarian breakfast. Both our meals were luke warm at best. We sent them back to be reheated and they came back just as cold. When we sent them back a second time the exact same food (complete with half eaten hash brown and microwaved fried eggs) came back cold again. At this point we chose to finish our coffees and call it a day. At this point the couple at the table next to us (out of earshot of the staff) told us that their food also was luke warm but that they had decided not to say anything so as not to create a fuss.Unbelievably when we complained we were then subjected to a tirade of abuse from the owner/manager who told us they do not serve cold food and it was our fault because we had been talking and allowed the food to get cold which was blatantly not the case. What’s more he then insisted we pay 4 for our two lattes! We were both shocked at this poor customer service and disappointed as we had previously enjoyed several meals here in the restaurant and for take away. We explained that we had eaten here many times before but the manager just didn’t care, saying the coffees were in the system and there was nothing he could do.By all means eat here if you must, but know that if you have reason to complain you will be made to feel it is your fault! Avoid.
Olive Garden. A great family Italian – superb!
The Olive is a family run restaurant and they always make you feel welcome. It’s busy throughout the week, and it is rrfinately advisable to book in advance, certainly Fridays and weekends. The best dishes are the prawns in garlic and the prawn risotto. Take away menu is the same and arrives hot and delicious. Definately the place to go to eat in a informal atmosphere and not pay too much. In fact it’s very reasonable in price. Good for couples and families. Go and see it foe yourself. !!
