Pathetic service today. Waited 45 minutes for my food then got accused of swearing at the manager, which I don’t do. Arrogant staff who rudely kick you out at the end of the day as well. Avoid.

My uni was right next to this quirky pub so I frequented the joint often. The staff are amazing, great fun. Quiz nights, cannot be beaten (I still have my Nicki Graham autobiography that I begged to have even though I lost). The decor is kooky, think action figures glued to the ceilings and cartoons plastered to the walls. A wide drink selection, great prices (and deals during the week) and of course, the food. Pretty damn epic actually. They were proudly serving a horse burger for a while but sadly, I think that ship has sailed.Honestly, the best pub in the area, super busy at the end of the day but thats for a reason.Cannot recommend highly enough

If you love burgers, you definitely have to try Lord Nelson’s Juicy Lucy! Beautifully cooked meat with a very generous cheese filling, what else could we ask for after a long morning walk? The fries were a bit of a disappointment but the burger sure makes up for it!

‘Quirky’ pub on the estate, standing out on Union St for its colourful painted exterior and a ~funny~ ramshackle alternative vibe. Thought it might a refreshing, solid pub for a decent meal that could surprise in quality. Especially with the amount of hardcore-burger-fan burger joints that have pervaded all central spaces, this looked more honest, solid and different. It’s basically a student pub, which is fine if that’s all your looking for.Food itself was pretty average: Haloumi salad generously portioned but padded out with a lot with crap bland leaves. The Gran Bastardo Espanol, wild boar burger complete with egg and Chorizo, looked banging on paper but fell short of a ? reaction. (Didn’t get a chance to have beef so could be missing out)**One redeeming feature is a pint for 3 which is good to have in your back pocket when looking to go for a drink in SE1**In hindsight I’m not sure why I hastened to believe the speech bubble of a cartoon Lord Nelson as this wasn’t even the best burger on Union Street let alone London. Nonetheless go here for a drink, or a big plate of food for just over a tenner if you’re really hungry and can’t be arsed with somewhere more proper.

From the quirky decor (in a red and blue theme with fantasy characters and other fun touches and cuddly toys hanging upside down above the bar) to the delicious burger this place is a must to go for lunch or dinner. The Juicy Lucy and the Full Nelson are the ones you must try but I bet that after that you’ll want to keep going there to try them all. Burger fans, you’ve been warned. This will be your new addiction! darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com

I visited this pub last night with a group of girlfriends for a casual drink and a catch up. Some had been before and enjoyed their experience and so we returned. Apparently its also popular in my university halls as it offers student prices on drinks. It is also a very quirky, creative place and so would appeal to a lot of creative people, particularly UAL (University of The Arts London) students. When we arrived I instantly liked the style of the pub. It was covered in bright colours, lights, posters and hanging teddy bears. It sounds pretty weird, which I guess it is. Its not stylish in any way but its individual and although filled with a lot of junk, that some people would find tacky, it gives it character and you end up really enjoying it. There is just so much to look at, most of it quite humorous. One of those places you’d visit on numerous occasions and reminisce about whilst telling your children about it in the future. Oh uni days! The drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was chilled, perfect for the type of night we were going for. Although it definitely wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste, and perhaps not a place you’d take your parents when they visit, I wouldn’t not recommend it. I think perhaps its more of a quirky place that you need to stumble across, a bit of a hidden treasure. I would return again in the future.

i ate here on a friday just recently with friend who works nearby, it’s her local. seemingly a virtual restaurant by day and bar by night – last food at 8pm – the food is very burger-centric with home-made monster burgers with multi-toppings their speciality. friend had ‘veggie on the med’ and i had ‘the full napoleon’. hers was a really good and nice textured veggie burger topped w/ roast peppers, haloumi, mozarella and houmus. pretty damn tasty! mine was a mahoosive beef burger – home-made and chargrilled with brie, onions, bacon and garlic mayo. my burger was awesome – best i’ve eaten in, well, forever… chips were hand-cut and there was a mini-salad in there somewhere.guy at next table had a ‘scooby burger’ – basically, a double sized affair, about 10” high – i don’t know if he lived to tell the tale, it was huge.the nelson staff were seriously rushed and the place was heaving but the atmosphere was great, staff friendly and funny (they were doing a weird dance routine by the bar at one point – hilarious…), music ridiculous and the decor insane. well worth a visit – this is not a byron burger, this is a real one-off and all the better for it.
