Awful food, awful service, awful price. I’d strongly recommend for anyone hoping to find a decent meal in what they hope is a reasonably authentic English pub to not give this one a second’s thought. As per my description, I found it truly awful. Not only did the bar girls exude all the enthusiasm of street walkers with a disinterest in anyone not so inebriated as to find them disinteresting, but their collective inability to understand the English language speaks little for the proprietor’s desire to hire foreign, non-English speaking backpackers. I note that this comment has been made previously…that the service here can be a bit ‘off colour’So to start with…be prepared for communications issues. Next….don’t expect what you order to be available. I ordered a meal listed on the ‘Daily Specials’ – only to find it was not available. Not available by 6PM! Must have been the 4PM dinner rush that cleared out their stocks! So I quickly reverted to a seemingly safe option of Beef Lasagne. Whilst it came out promptly enough…the reason was immediately obvious…..this Beef Lasagne had neither beef…nor Lasagne (pasta)I am not joking. It was simply an enormous bowl of melted cheese, complete with oil and fat on top, and complemented by a fair amount of green capsicum and tomato salsa underneath. Not one iota of beef, and certainly no pasta. My friend’s meal – steak pie and chips, was sensational by comparison….but still completely horrible. No steak…just a fatty, gristly pie (the sort you buy from a convenience store for 50p)…..with shoestring oven chips and a side of baked beans…which were not mentioned. Compared to my vego-empathising beef lasagne cum cheese fondue I was really coveting their gristly fatty oven pie.In all seriousness, please do not waste your money by going here. The proprietors do not seem to care enough to deserve your hard earned money.
Now that the sun is finally out pubs with an outside area are the best to enjoy a cold pint. The Prince William Henry is all I want from a pub. Great outside area, lots of fried food to go with your beer and almost everything comes with chips. We went for a team lunch, enjoyed the sun and the food and I even got a bit of a tan. The veggie lasagna were tasty and cheesy and the fried chicken goujons were very nice and filling. While I would not classify this as healthy comfort food, I think fans of fried food and beer will be happy.Definitely a winner for me and I can’t wait to go back when I want to indulge. darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com
