Beware when paying for drinks by card.. While this is a nice enough pub with great food, on my last visit I paid for drinks on my card and didn’t check that the amount was correct on the screen, only to find out on my statement I’d been overcharged by 10. I obviously got nothing helpful from emailing in and credit cards aren’t always accepted at this place, so a very convenient scam, so be careful to check and count your change as the staff are clearly careless or dishonest.

Very different and interesting, but a bit expensive and rushed experience. Had an interesting scallops with lentils and bacon dish, partner had the beef provencale. Shared the flourless choc cake which was delicious and had beer/pimms each. Bill came to 50 for two on a Thursday night. It might have been just us, we were going to theatre so had about 50min to eat, but the place was very full and we felt a little rushed to order…though food arrived in literally minutes. Very friendly staff, I thought the place itself wasn’t anything special, interesting that they only have 2(!) two-people tables, rest of us are on tables with other people, which I’m fine with. Has outdoor seating and bar area, 10min walk from Waterloo, near The Old and Young VIc. Might go back another time to try something different. Also, note they don’t take bookings except Sunday I think.

My favourite place to eat in London. This is definitely the place to go to if you are in search of delicious gastro pub food. It is a fantastic venue for long lunches with a group of friends and is perfect in both summer and winter. The chefs really know what they’re doing and the food is always fresh and seasonal, but I must add, it is not your stereotypical pub grub. When I land at Heathrow next, The Anchor & Hope will be at the top of my ‘must do’ list. Overall, a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and amazing food.Food: 8.5 / 10Service: 7 / 10Ambience: 7 / 10

What gastropubs are meant to be – fresh, innovative food, cracking beer (& good wine list to boot) and attentive, knowledgeable service. A gem. Deserves the great reviews it’s had elsewhere.

Rillettes and Stew. Had the rabbit rillettes and the Lamb’s neck stew with scalloped potatoes. Cost us an arm and a leg, but it warmed us up, and made us insanely happy on a very dreary and cold November night.

Arrive early, good lunch. Luckily we arrived early for lunch and easily got a table, the place filled up very quickly. Really enjoyed the lunch, very nicely done. Although my clothes smelled like a deep fryer after leaving, not sure what that’s about (??) hopefully just a one-off, because I enjoyed the place and would like to go back.

Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Good food. But aim for an early dinner as waiting for a table can be a bore.
