Momo’s is amazing. Amazing food selection and the sushi is perfect. It’s also an awesome place to eat, the staff are friendly and the decor is pretty ace too. What’s not to love.

I’ve decided MoMo shouldn’t belong in Staines. This kitsch, kooky, cute sushi cafe would naturally be found down a cool London side alley or the hipster Brighton Laines. However it is placed just off of Staines High Street, opposite the local Spoons, and I plan to take full advantage of it before the owner’s realise its location error. MoMo’s is small. Its size only adding to its unpretentious charm. The kitchen is on full display, where you view the chef carefully rolling your sushi. Every space available has been filled with a mismatch of tables and chairs. The decor is continuously changing. When I last visited the chandelier hanging from middle of the ceiling was littered with culinary equipment such as ladles, graters and spoons. Every time I visit I seem to spot something new and interesting. I have been visiting MoMo for several years and have never been left disappointed. Admittedly my tastes have changed. I used to dive into their noodle dishes but now see them as too fiddling and messy. However, my vegetarian brother insists their crunchy tofu noodles are exceptional, and incredibly hard to top. However this time we go for what I feel MoMo does best: sushi. Visiting with my brother, we decide on two portions of Avocado Maki (both our favourite), and one Cucumber Maki. Each portion consists of six rolls. Some may see this as an uninteresting and average order, however they would be wrong. The sushi is a delight. Arriving quickly on a black plate, the sushi bursts with colour and invitation: an instagrammers dream. Each plate of sushi comes with ginger and wasabi. Being the wimp that I am I sway away from the sides, sticking instead to a dip of soy sauce. The Maki is the perfect size to smoothly eat in one scrumptious bite, and the avocado is always succulent and ripe. MoMo does offer many exciting sushi ensembles. Their duck and cucumber, salmon and avocado, and spicy tuna rolls are also delicious. But since I am sharing with a vegetarian we stick to the greens, and am always left feeling satisfied, not full, but happily satisfied. The staff are continuously inviting and happy to see you. There is a 50p charge on card, but this is hardly an issue, as when you go up to pay you help yourself to a piece of White Rabbit Candy. It is a little touch that really makes you feel that the staff have put as much thought as possible into making sure you leave this little bubble of exoticness feeling happy, and bound to return.I did return- and remembered to take pictures! I had avocado maki, and duck and cucumber rolls. My friend had their duck noodles. Yummy as always!
