Hidden under the Well & Bucket pub on Bethnal Green Road is this lovely little gem of a cocktail bar. Small and perfectly formed, it is a great spot to settle in for the cold evenings and chill with some great cocktail infusions. Prop yourself at the bar and enjoy the stories and recommendations from the bar team, or grab an alcove with friends/work colleagues. cookandpour.co.uk

5cc Cocktail Club is a great little speakeasy set beneath the floorboards of the Well & Bucket pub on Bethnal Green Road. It was brought to my attention just before London Cocktail Week and I was lucky enough to be invited along for an evening at the bar with their head mixologist. It is an amazing space, cloaked in a dark moody atmosphere that fits the speakeasy vibe perfectly. Cocktail sippers are invited to sit in high leather chairs with friends or retreat to the privacy of the secluded vaults. We descended down the stairs beneath the neon signs and turned left into 5cc to join the head mixologist at the bar for an evening sampling some of the finest combinations of premiums spirits, distillates and home infused creations. After discussing my favourite drinks and flavours with our host for the evening, I ordered my first drink of the evening, the Smokey Tommy. It was a stiff mix of Smokey Mescal, Lime & Agave, served on the rocks with a smoked salt edge.I sat back with my Smokey Tommy and watched as a set of three Espresso Martinis were whipped up. Their 151 Express is a combination of Goslings 151, Espresso & Coffee Liqueur, serve in a frosted glass so it’s served perfectly chilled.A few more noteworthy drinks in the form of Rimbaud’s Left Hand and the Mary Pickford. Rimbaud’s Left Hand mixes Benedictine, Aperol, Absinthe, Lemon Juice, Pineapple & Egg White to create a strong mix that will soon have your head in a spin after a couple more. Mary Pickford on the other hand is a sweeter and smoother combination of Rum, Pineapple, Grenadine & Maraschino that goes down far too easily! My final drink before leaving was the Don Collins and this was probably my favourite from the night. It incorporated a healthy measure of Overproof Rum, Grapefruit and charged with Cider to create a sweet and warming concoction, perfect to top off the night. They also do an amazing little bar menu full of highly delectable treats, such as Lobster Rolls, Pulled Pork Sliders and my favourite, Crab Fries! A mound of fries covered in crab meat and cheese! What more could you want?Enjoy! We The Food Snobs x wethefoodsnobs.com
