We had a rather pedestrian mezze lunch. I shouldn’t write off AGAH because we didn’t have time try their speciality, which is meat from the charcoal grill. Because we were pressed for time we didn’t order well. We stuck to dishes we were certain would arrive promptly.Baba ghanoush was smokey, fresh and pleasant if a little under seasoned. Kisir was okay, but I prefer versions with a little more vegetable such as onion, salad, or cucumber. This one was predominantly bulghur. Cacik was okay but not a lot can go wrong with that dish. The dish promoted as special BBQ hot wings with Agah special spicy sauce was a total disappointment. The wings had been been deep fried, not barbecued, and skin was stodgy rather than crisp. The special sauce was the commercial sweet chilli sauce typically served with spring rolls at street food stalls. It comes out of a bottle.I guess I should really try their grilled meats at some point. However, for mezze in this neighbourhood I strongly prefer Zhengi across the street. Our lunch for 2 with complimentary warm pita, a soft drink and tea was 25 including service.
