NEVER AGAIN! RUDE STAFF, EXPENSIVE AND DISAPPOINTING FOOD/DRINK.. I should have guessed this place was gonna be rubbish when it was the only place in Brick lane on a Sunday that had a free table! Firstly,we had to clean the table ourselves as the staff were to busy chatting behind the counter and the table was covered in sticky tea/coffee stains and crumbs. When I went to order I couldn’t believe that two cups of tea (not even a pot of tea each) and two slices of cake came to 11.00I hoped it would be worth the money but it really wasn’t. They served the slice of carrot cake I ordered with cheap spray cream and ice cream syrup all over it and when I took it back to the counter to exchange it for another slice without the cream etc they had none left and I was met with rude, hostile staff. The manager’s exact words were ‘its not my problem’.The second slice of cake I ordered came and turned out to be dry and tasted oily. Very disappointed and would urge other’s not to waste their time or money on this dump.

Never again!. I wouldn’t step inside the doors of Benets of Cambridge again or give them another penny of my money.I had an awful experience, where the staff were rude and made me feel like all they cared about was the customer’s money but not the customer service.I had arranged to meet a friend for lunch on Sunday. I got there 15-20min early and as I ordered a coffee (that cost just short of 3) I told the guy behind the counter I was going to order food when my friend arrived. About 5min after I’d finished my coffee the same guy took my cup away, then less than 5min later he came back to tell me I was taking up a table. I told him again I was waiting for a friend who I was expecting any minute. Then about 2min later another member of staff came up to me and asked me whether I was going to order because I was taking up a table. After telling him that I HAD being planning to have lunch there with my friend, I just got up and left (as my friend was just walking up to the door).I could have understood if there were people standing waiting for a table, but there were at least 2 empty tables in the place. Left a very bitter taste.

Worst 25 i ever spent. Absolutely appalling,,hot drinks are cold,, you can see the kitchen staff arguing over what to serve ,, and then they just leave it on the counter.. had to ask 3 times for my food,, when it finally arrived my family had already finished theirs,, avoid at all costs.if there is a queue at this place it is not because its good, its because they are useless,, get a bagel from brick lane

Not the best time I’ve ever had…. Upon looking at it, you’d be fooled into thinking that Benets was a nice place with a decent atmosphere. The one time that I’ve been there, however, have shown that while this place has potential, it’s marred by rude staff and subpar food quality. The only thing that I liked was the selection of ice cream, and even that isn’t enough to make me want to go back. The proprietor of the business is a mean looking bulldog-man, who is immensely rude. He attempted to clear our (me and my girlfriend’s) table several times, despite us not even being done with our food or coffee, and then became very aggressive and insisted that we leave to clear up the table for other customers. Now, this would have been reasonable, even with his shocking manners, had it been true. The reality was that there were only 4 other people inside apart from us, so his behaviour left us all the more puzzled.Going back to the food, I’m of the opinion that it’s slightly overpriced, especially for what it is. For a meal for two, it cost us about 20, and the goat’s cheese and pesto sandwiches we received were incredibly bland, not to mention that we had to ask the staff (who didn’t seem very friendly) to re-toast them, even though we mentioned that we wanted them hot. Also, I ordered a cappuccino, and received a bubbly, frothy mess, which was especially upsetting, considering it cost me 2.65.In short, stay well away from this place if you want to have a good, enjoyable meal.

Coffee Culture in the East End Devolves. Benet’s of Cambridge’s arrival the top of Brick Lane on Bethnal Green Road strikes me as a strange business decision. It’s faux retro, working man’s cafe look are artificial and lack design sense or taste. The branding is Gawd-awful and the product selection uninspiring. But, I’m a generous type and am willing to give everyone a first or second chance. I went in and ordered a flat white from a pleasant but slightly distracted waitress/barista. The result was simply horrid. I enjoy good coffee (Prufrock, Allpress, St ALi et al) but I ‘m no snob. I’ll have a Starbucks/Costa/Nero if I need a fix and be cool with it. What I was served was really poor. Milky, almost watery, coffee with no real taste. Coffee pablum. Cafe coffee with no joy, poor taste and nothing like a flat white. The tell tale sign is that an 8 oz flat white is served in the incorrect cup. Horrible and, to add insult, 2.35! A sad excuse for coffee from an uninspiring venue. Good luck… but the neighborhood is no better for their arrival. The claim that they serve the best flat white’s in Cambridge either means that Cambridge-folk don’t know good coffee or someone is taking the mick.
