Came in here after seeing the certificate of excellence sticker. Great location in the corner. We were sat on a table for 5, 3 of us so we were not cramped. Food was very nice, only downside is their drinks menu
Was walking down brick lane on a hot Thursday evening with my family the window was all open on the sides and looked very appealing it also helped the fact the restaurant was nearly full. Our dishes were all made to measure and one of us had the house special which was lamb tikka balti overall it was a very pleasant experience and we cannot wait to go there again.
Was walking along Brick Lane the other night, taking the usual battering of invitations from every restaurant we passed. At that point, my hunger was not enough to look past the extremely annoying (and aggressive) behaviour of these hosts, and so I marched on. In the end, I decided on Eastern Eye purely because no one hounded me to come in. In fact, the man at the door simply smiled, and so I decided to give it a go!The interior isn’t really anything to write home about. Pretty nondescript to be honest, and could definitely use some more lighting. But ambiance is rarely my top priority when dining on Brick Lane, and the smell of the food emanating from the kitchen was enough ambiance for me!I ordered the jalfrezi chicken with naan and some rice. The portion of rice was a bit on the stingy side, and far from the most aromatic I’ve ever had, but it was nice nonetheless. The jalfrezi was hot and tasty with loads of fresh chilies and onion and spices. The amount of chicken may not be enough for some, but I found it quite ideal (definitely none leftover for a takeaway, though!) The naan was pretty standard– airy yet dense, nicely buttered and lots of garlic. Again, a tad on the stingy side, but good!Overall, I can’t say I would definitely return (what with all the many options), but if you’re looking for a decent meal without being hounded and grabbed as you pass by, I highly recommend the Eastern Eye Balti House!
