That’s it!. I have had enough.. I have ordered from Gourmet San over 30 times and it’s either brilliant or terrible.. If it was not for those lamb skewers I had would have given up years ago! Well that’s it, enough…. Another cold, vile, jellyfied dinner arrived.. Small & not crispy aromatic duck, fried into non existence burnt chilli beef, and hideous Malaysian style satay prawns.. And very wobbly chicken in black bean sauce, the egg fired rice was nice and the lamb skewers passable .. But all stone cold.. After spending 40 we had an Inedible meal, I was told when I phoned to complain that I would get free prawn crackers next time!!!! WTF.. I am a long standing customer..??… So long Gourmet San… It’s been a tricky ride, gutted that I will never again eat your lamb skewers but pleased never to waste anymore cash with you or have to deal with your terrible customer service.. One day soon you will realise that potential customers read reviews!

OKAY but not amazing. Was a bit disappointed with this place: it was definitely passable, but not especially great Sichuan. The poached fish was VERY ‘fishy’ and didn’t taste especially fresh and the cucumber and garlic was slimy and not nearly garlic-y enough. We also had a chilli chicken which was pretty good. For 42 for two, including one beer each, I think we could have done much better elsewhere.

WARNING!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS: Worst than mall food…. I ordered from Gourmet San for the first time today because a friend recommended it. I cannot express how disappointed I am. I am actually writing this review instead of eating!!!The things I ordered because I thought would be safe: hot and sour soup, Singapore vermicelli, King prawn curry, Sweet & Sour pork and Egg fried rice. They told us it would be an hour wait. We did not mind as we knew this meant that the food would be fresh. The driver arrived less then 30 mins later. Which means, the food was probably sitting there for who knows how long!Review of FOOD: Hot and sour soup: Smells like manure… could not even have a full spoon of it. Tasted old and like burnt pepper. Absolutely disgusting! Singapore vermicelli: The color is orange rather than yellow and it does not have the distinctive flavor that is should have. All you can taste is the red chill peppers and the red chili pepper!!! That is it – it is so hot/spicy that you cannot eat it!King prawn curry:Does not taste like curry. Just a goopy sauce – More than half the box is onion and green pepper… mostly onion.Sweet & Sour Pork: Have had better in shopping centers. Again, more onion and green pepper than pork.Egg fried rice: Was the only thing I could eat, but it is quite oily. What annoys me even more is the lady charged us more than what our menu stated. Complete joke! The Chinese food at Waitrose and M&S are infinitely better and that does not say MUCH!Save your money and AVOID this PLACE!!!

How Can Everything Taste so Good?. My Friend Conveniently move around the corner from Gourmet San and we both Love Great Chinese food. We even have a weekly Dim Sum Crew. As an Add bonus to moving to London from Canada, we get world class quality chinese at our (his) Door step literally. Not only is everything on the menu delicious, its cheap and they serve large portions. We were so comfortable in the quality of food that last visit we looked over at the next table and asked the waitress to bring us whatever the couple was having next to us. And wow again we were amazed. Pork Belly and Peppers. Spicy Fried rice, Chicken with bamboo shoots. And of Course Curried lamb skewers. if you want Amazing and Traditional Schezwan food at affordable prices. Come to Gourmet San. I also love that they deliver! AH-Mazing!

Proper food – AMAZING. The true taste of China awaits you at Gourmet San. This place is actually the shittiest hole in the East End. And no, that’s not cool despite what Bethnal Greenites might say. You might trip and break your neck sliding across all the grease and slime on the floor, but food of this standard and authenticity is worth any risk.In a word, the food is the only authentic provincial Chinese food I have experienced in London and it is AMAZING.Don’t hesitate, but don’t expect crispy duck with pancakes. Leave that rubbish to Ping Pong.
