You wouldn’t normally go for an Italian when your on Brick Lane but sometimes you fancy a change. The day I visited I think they had just repainted as there was a very strong smell of paint throughout the restaurant. We ordered some olives & garlic & tomato bread to start, the starters were quite pricey but when they arrived you could see that you get your money’s worth the portions were huge! The olives were ok, they had too much dried oregano on them, the garlic & tomato bread was basically a pizza, this was great really flavourful & fabulously garlicky! My friend & I opted to share our mains, we had a Neapolitan, the pizza was ok – the dough was well cooked but the topping ingredients didn’t seem great quality, ten spaghetti carbonara on the other hard was great – not too heavy or creamy, lovely crispy pancetta & again a huge portion. If your looking for something different in brick lane this place is ok, it’s not standout but it does the job!

Despite having a narrow interior, La Cucina uses its limited space extremely well, with a real community feel. The ingredients are extremely fresh and the menu has a great range of Italian dishes, including a variety of vegetarian options. The portions sizes are generous and extremely good value for the price, without scrimping on quality. The service was fast as well as friendly, and helped to perpetuate the endearing vibe of the small establishment. It is a nice change from the many fast food joints on Brick Lane, and would be a nice spot for a date or casual dinner.

Nice environment. Very friendly and prompt staff. The restaurant is located 10 minutes away from Liverpool St. Station, but the walk it is worth the experience. Firstly, the menu is huge and various. I decided to go for pizza, and I chose a Bufala. It was impressively thin and tasty. The tomatoes were very fresh and the mozzarella tasted super good! I was delighted. Also, as a dessert I ordered some profiteroles, which were very creamy and nicely presented. The prices are fine, and the place is lovely. I will definitely have a nice lunch at La Cucina again!

Became intrigued after walking past this place on my last trip down Brick Lane. So me and some friends decided to order some takeaway to test it out.To keep it safe we went for the bruschetta and pizzas (American and La Cucina) and were pleasantly surprised. It is miles better than any takeaway pizza you can get elsewhere (be it the standard chains or other) and definitely worth trying out. The stand out was the amount of parma ham on the La Cucina. Normally places seem to be very stingy with this however it was piled on here, which I loved! The only minor gripe was that the bruschetta came quite cold so we had to warm it up in the oven. This may have been how it was supposed to be, but we all like our bruschetta hot.Overall a good meal and will definitely be dropping by on my next Brick Lane adventure!

Food wise it was not worth the money the food is very average (although the pizza bread is really nice), the waiter was friendly although spoke very little English. Unfortunately he was also very inexperienced and made lots of mistakes (we had to go and ask for a serviette). It’s nicely decorated but ultimately was trying to be Italian rather than actually being Italian. Room for improvement.

Brick Lane is the heart of the East End, with streets splitting off like veins each route taking you to a different part of the muliticultural epicentre. Which is why I am pleased to see an Italian restaurant spring up on the lane itself. Beautiful wood oven roaring at the back accompanied by a warm welcome. The staff were lovely to us every step of the way, especially the waitress. I would also like to state that we were given 40 towards the bill to eat here, in fact for this review. So we started with the lobster soup 😉 and insalata toscana. The mozzarella was really nice and speck was delicious, in fact I would recommend the insalata toscana and just hope for less salad than i was served. This would be a very nice dish if it simply celebrated the mozzarella and speck. The lobster soup did not taste like lobster at all and the drizzle of oil on top of the soup was unnecessary (flavour-wise).We then ordered a pizza and the mixed fish. The pizza smelled good and tasted ok, it is a shame because i feel this was most likely because of my order choice. It was just laden with cheese so I couldnt get my taste buds round the nice wood fired base.Avoid the shellfish, the scallops and prawns were not good, in my humble opinion the prawns couldn’t have been fresh. However with all this being said i still feel that had we ordered the ravioli al tartufo and a lighter pizza, this could have been a much more positive experience.Lovely restaurant and I will head back sometime in the future and hopefully amend the results.
