Frankly, this is an essential stop on the Spitalfield street food scene. They have dropped the sandwich variety due to space, so you’ll have to go to their other location for that, but the chicken strips and fries are delicious. Pick your time carefully though – as queue’s of hungry foodies do tend to form. I always try and be there for 12 on the dot – as you’re normally ordering immediately. It’s simply delicious – and on a sunny day there’s nothing better than chilling out in the sun and having a bit of buttery chicken. urbanmash.co.uk
After an event at the Truman Brewery, a spot was lunch was called for and with a name like Mother Clucker, we had to get in to the very long queue. Service was realllly slow, so much so that Husband wandered off, found himself a shorter queue at the Turkish and came back with two wraps and I was still to be served. Deciding instead to get an order of fries to go with our wraps, it was still a painful 10 minute wait for our fries to appear. They were amazing no doubt about it, but it was a slow slow day so I can only hope for those waiting for the chicken that it ended up being well worth it! inher30s.com
Absolutely loved the chicken burger from here the one time I tried it. The chicken is wonderfully piquant – they don’t skimp on the spice, mind you – and oh so crisp! One of the best coleslaws I’ve had in long and the bun is pretty good too. Not a big fan of chips, but I’m sure they’ll do.You won’t regret a visit, so get that umbrella out on a dreary day and grab yourself one of these burger beauties. It’ll definitely perk up your day!
Mother Clucker, what a name, something so mighty bold. What on earth can it be? Did you guess it? Its CHICKEN!Currently housed in the Truman Brewery in an US converted ambulance, they serve the mouth drooping tea brine, buttermilk soaked twice battered chicken and other comfort goodies like mac and cheese, Cajun fries and black-eyed peas. What I didnt know was the amount of food you get for both items, when they passed the order to me. I thought to myself I can never finish it off. I was expecting only 2 pieces of strips like most places, I had to undo the burger and eat a few strips just so I can grip the poor thing in my hands. Im a real sucker for buttermilk chicken, soft, tender; Mother Clucker version was pretty good and had a nice crispy exterior. thefoodconnoisseur.co.uk
I’m becoming quite jaded with a lot of the street food London is offering. Mother Clucker is another one of these awesome-looking vans which delivers average food. The food photographs well, but unfortunately looks a lot better than it tastes. Service was very slow on my visit today, but creating a long queue may well have been intentional.
Mother Clucker is one of the few street food vendors that has earned a name for themselves, and it’s a very cheeky name indeed. I first heard of them around a year ago when I was lucky enough to try their chicken strips with mac & cheese at a press event. Their presence at the event told me that they had to be something special, and their food convinced me. I’ve been dreaming of their chicken ever since, so when I happened upon their van during lunch today nostalgia washed over me. I worked my way through the other street food vans and joined the ridiculously long queue for Mother Clucker. Was it worth the wait? Definitely. The chicken strips were coated in a crunchy, flavourful, twice battered southern fried buttermilk coating. The chicken inside was juicy and tender, whilst the Cajun fries had a slight kick to them, although the accompanying spicy sauce was too much for me to handle. Price wise, the 8 I paid was reasonable. I received 4 decently sized chicken strips, more than enough fries, and a drink. I accidentally dropped the can just after paying for it, but one of the gentleman cooking kindly replaced it for me with no hesitation (I didn’t even ask!). I will definitely be back! bloomzy.co.uk
I came across Mother Clucker on the off-chance and I’m so glad that serendipity was on my side! Their fried chicken is both succulent and crispy, which is hard to come by. Have it in a bun along with the cajun fries, and you’ve got yourself a flavoursome and tasty meal at the ready! My friend ordered the mac and cheese, which was nice but not nearly as impressive as the chicken! The prices are also quite high but I’m sure this is due to the van’s location. It’s easy to find a place to perch on the surrounding benches, and overall it is a great place for a bite to eat.The service is quick and the staff are friendly and charming. Mother Clucker is the perfect place to go if you’re sauntering around Brick Lane and want some really good chicken!
