LOVE LOVE LOVE the brown bread ice cream here. Anyone that comes here has to ask for a scoop. The waffles however are tiny for that price. They give half only but charge the same as any other place or even more.
Cakes in the window and a glittery sign attracted me to Motown Desserts a very long while ago and one balmy winters day I decided to pop in, having walked back from the Annual Clown Service and feeling like Id walked off some calories. It was bigger inside than I imagined meaning I could sit in the back and take advantage of one of their house specials rather than nabbing a piece of cake to take home. This I regret. I think a piece of cake to take home would have been far more pleasurable than the mess I had. I wasnt really sure what I fancied mainly cake and ice cream but they didnt have that exact combo so instead I had the Cloud Nine. This was lady fingers soaked in coffee with coffee and chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and a wafer. Sounded like a different take on tiramisu. But it was pretty horrible. The lady fingers seemed to have been soaked in warm coffee, and unevenly. Some of them were still rock hard, others had turned to complete mush which was an awful texture in the mouth, especially coupled with being warm. I didnt expect the ice cream to reach Gelupo standards and it didnt. It even had slightly chewy bits which Im not really sure were intentional. I ate about three quarters of it until all that were left were the awful lady fingers and then I got out of there, paying 7 for the privilege. The one thing I liked about the place was its main feature a section of glass floor from where you can look down on sacks of coffee beans and records. Otherwise it was a swing and a miss for me. jaminaward.wixsite.com
If you love your deserts or your hot drinks or milkshakes then do come and check this place out, based in Bethnal Green all within walking distance from the station and very easy to find as well!Motown was not what I had expected it to be, before even going there I honestly thought it would be an average desert place, but I was surprised when I visited the place yesterday with my friend. There’s so much great things about this little desert spot, I don’t have anything bad to say about this place, I do know that anytime I’m craving for deserts I sure will make the trip back to visit again. The desert tastes great, I had opted for the carrot cake which was perfect and was moist; all the cakes looked great and I felt I was spoiled for choice, like a kid at a candy shop! My friend had decided to get the hot chocolate and Motown offers two types of hot chocolate; one which is made from ice cream or the other made from chocolate! So many great options to eat away those cravings!Apart from the food being great, the staff are very friendly, so great customer service goes a long way with first expressions of the place! You also have free wifi; so, great for when you reception might not be great or when your running low on data! The atmosphere of the place is relaxing and comforting, which I guess is helped with the funky decor of the place; you get a different vibe from this place compared to the average desert place. It is definitely a place you can get away from the crazy world out there to enjoy deserts with loved ones! Take a look at the photo’s to get a glimpse of the funky decor I am talking about and take yourself there to see for your self topped with a nice desert to enjoy it with!
This was my second visit to the place and I was equally impressed i must say.Went with family and the food was good value for money. the desserts were amazing and we all enjoyed a hearty meal. Would recommend to all, guess the place gets really full on weekends.
I wanted to try this place for quite a while and when I finally did, I was in for a huge disappointment. The ice-cream was not at all good, in fact it was awful. On top of this the service was bad as well. The staff was rude and behaved indifferently. I would not like to go back to this place again ever.
I happened to try this place recently and well, it was quite an experience. Though this place specializes in desserts but the overall meal is awesome as well. The desserts are excellent, especially the ice cream, the beast I have ever had. The ambience is just fine, in fact a little understated for the quality of food offered here.
The place has a great vibe and ambiance to it. There are two seating areas with the bigger one in the basement. Begin quite full we had to make do with the basement. The one on the lower level seemed more welcoming and warm. Despite this it was very enjoyable. The music was good! However, the service is pathetic. They staff is extremely slow.
