First time for Polish food, and I’m a little disappointed. Loved what I tried but there really isn’t much for vegetarians and absolutely nothing for vegans. The dumplings were good, very potatoey cheesy with a crumbly texture, I preferred the mushroom cabbage filling, definitely liked the placki better. If not for the Polish experience, could give it a miss. But they do have amazing honey beer for which I’d give them 5/5.
This is a Polish bar that focuses on their favourite tipple vodka. A bit like an indie version of Revolution, this bar has every kind of vodka you can imagine in terms of flavours. I dont know where they get them from whether they are in-house creations or not, but the range is certainly innovative. The menu is split into divisions of Dry and Interesting, Nice and Sweet, Clear and Clean, and various brands of vodka. You can try flavours such as starka a vodka aged in barrels so it becomes a bit like whiskey, or a vodka infused with bitter digestive herbs. We tried quite a range, having about 7 between us in the short time we were there. First up we chose two each I had honey and spice and melon, Alison had lemon drops and hazelnut. At only 3.00 each, you can definitely try a few different ones so after these four we went back for another three. I chose these and this time I picked sweet plum, kminkowu sweet caraway seeds and husarska green fennel bulb infusion. You can either take the view that they sell shots and so you should shoot them, or, you can sip them and savour the different tastes. For they actually do have quite intense flavours that are (mostly) pleasant to drink, rather than mainly tasting of vodka with a hint of something else. We didnt shoot ours and instead shared them between us so we could try them all. I liked all of them except the fennel one which had a more powerful aniseed taste than real fennel tends to. The most pleasant surprise was the sweet caraway seed flavour, which reminded me of sesame. Nutty, but indeed sweet. Being the night before Christmas Eve, with very few people in town, Bar Polski was all but empty. There was just one very drunk work party, and us. So the atmosphere was lacking, and it being rather hidden behind Holborn station I can imagine it doesnt get too packed anyway. Obviously, this is the place to go for any vodka lover, but Id highly recommend it for those who profess not to love the spirit as well the flavours here will convince you. jaminaward.wixsite.com
The atmosphere was a lively one when I went there. This place is really good if you like vodka. I did not taste the food, however, the had a great variety of drinks on offer. The prices were also in a very reasonable range and I would suggest you all to try this place.
This place serves the usual stuff in the mornings of sausages and sandwiches, while in the evening it takes a complete makeover, turning into a bar. Although it is a bit small, it is always full in the evenings. However, a little before that it is quite empty. The prices of the shots and pints in my opinion is pretty decent. The problem however is with the closing time being 11 pm!
Although this place is in an odd location but once you get in here, it is a wonderful experience. The food is excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially my salad. There are a wide range of options available on the menu and the drinks are quite good as well. The ambience is quite warm and comfortable, yet a little modern. I would love to come back!
This is a great place to chill with your gang of friends over a drink. We have always preferred this place over the other crowded pubs in town. There is an extensive collection of Polish vodkas in their menu that comes with various flavors. Beer selection is also huge. The food accompanying your drinks is appetizing as well.
Horrified. I have drank in this bar a few times working for a nearby law firm. When in there the manager always made reference to our firm being good custom recognising perhaps lawyers had money to spend. This evening when passing the bar I needed the toilet and popped in wen it was half empty only to be stopped by the same manager and told I couldn’t use the toilets as I wasn’t drinking their this evening. Irrespective of what he food ad drink is like this kind of rude inhumane attitude is enough to make me never drink or eat in there again.
