Love the breakfast here. We would often come here to have breakfast in between breaks or when we had to kill some time. A super good place with great food. A must visit.

Popped in for a quick pre theatre meal on Saturday, lovely place for catching up over some food and wine.We were in the mood for burgers; my friend had the veggie version which was great, I had the patty melt, which was unusual in presentation but spot on in taste. Our sides were a mixed bag – the fries were good but the creamed spinach disappointed – soggy, cold in spots, and poor consistency. To accompany our meal we shared a bottle of the Grenache ros – lovely wine, perfect for the sunny weather we are enjoying! For pudding I chose the s’mores sundae. It was fine, but a little dull if anything – it lacked the flair of a good sundae when it came to finish. It was ice cream and stuff in a sundae dish – tasty but not a show stopping sundae by any means! My companion had the cheese plate which was very good; generous wedges of cheese, pleasant accompaniments, and lots of different breads and crackers on the side. The service from our main waitress and the gentleman supervising the room was excellent – that perfect balance where you’re attended to beautifully, but can also carry on conversations uninterrupted! Another waitress tried to clear our plates while we were still eating, which was a little odd, but you can’t fault the enthusiasm.I enjoyed my meal at Hubbard and Bell – when looking at the menu several other items caught my eye, as did the 25 brunch deal on Sundays and several tempting looking cocktails. A good Holborn spot. countrymouseclaire.com

Hubbard & Bell is The Hoxton Holborn Hotels in-house restaurant, where I had the most delicious brunch last week. Few things will get me out of bed early on a weekend, except maybe coffee or good food, but on a sunny Saturday morning, I walked through Holborn to have a hot cup of coffee and some rib sticking grub. I ordered the sourdough pancakes with browned sugar and pineapple with a strong cup of black filter coffee. The avocado toast with poached egg and the full english breakfast looked super tasty; the bacon was seriously thick cut. In fact, all portions were generous, which always gets a double thumbs up from me. The menu also had lots of choices for pressed juice, and going off topic for a second, the milk for teas and coffee were served in teeny little milk bottles- so twee and cute!I really liked the look and feel of both the restaurant and the hotel; its a refreshing change in this quieter outskirt of the West End.Youll find The Hoxton right next door to Holborn Grind. Walk straight towards the coffee counter and youll be seated by one of the helpful staff; clearly needing some new reading glasses, I didnt see the sign for the restaurant, so hopefully thatll save you some time! theawkwardblog.com

I first tried and loved Hubbard & Bells food at the launch party of The Hoxton Holborn, although the restaurant itself had been temporarily transformed for the Backstage Tour immersive theatre event. So after much deliberating about where to eat in central London on a Saturday night with my Parisian friends I said, err, how about the great restaurant in your hotel? We met in the lobby and managed to score a comfy booth table in a cosy spot close to the open kitchen. The menu is nice and varied with light bites such as charcuterie and toasts, indulgent burgers, fresh salads, grilled or smoked meats and indulgent porterhouse steak and lobster if youre splashing out.Coralie and I both went for a delicious Shrimp Burger (10). The juicy shrimp and crab patty was packed full of Thai basil and chilli and had an aromatic flavour. It was served in a fluffy potato bun with slices of cool avocado, lettuce and a tasty, piquant tomato salsa.Steven and Sunny both tried a decadent Patty Melt Sandwich (9). The high-quality medium-cooked beef was well-seasoned and accompanied by sweet caramelised onions and gooey cheese in buttery, griddled caraway bread. We ordered a few sides to share, as the vegetables sounded particularly tempting. Brussels Sprouts (5) were full of flavour, sauted with tart sour cherries and pieces of chunky, sweet-cured bacon.Another veggie hit was Roasted Pumpkin with hazelnut praline (6). Thick slices of melt in the mouth pumpkin were perfectly roasted and the crunchy toasted hazelnut praline was a fantastic accompaniment. The all-round favourite side was Leeks with Taleggio cheese and caramelised onions (5). The soft, nicely charred leeks were smothered in a satisfying bechamel sauce and topped with fresh herbs. It was a comforting winter dish that I would order again and keep all to myself.Dessert followed the sharing theme and we all went for Americana classics. Our SMores (6) were simple yet decadent with molten toasted marshmallows and velvety melted milk chocolate, sandwiched between a stack of Graham Crackers and finished with chocolate shavings.Coralie and Sunnys PBJ Ice Cream Sundae (6) looked impressive and seemed to go down very well I was too enamoured with my SMores to demand a spoonful. We washed everything down with a lovely bottle of Treviso DOC, Luna Argenta Prosecco, which was light, uplifting and ideal for sharing. As usual, we stayed chatting for ages and Coralie and Sunny had the luxury of rolling upstairs to their room afterwards.Hubbard & Bell fit the bill perfectly for our catch up dinner and we were all super impressed. The food and ambiance were both excellent and the staff were attentive and never rushed us, even though it was a busy weekend evening. I cant wait to go back and try more of the menu or one of their tempting breakfasts. cheriecity.co.uk
