A great find by a colleague, I had never even heard of this place before but am now converted. The atmosphere downstairs is great, very intimate and natural with all the plants. We were introduced to the menu by the chef, with details about where all the food came from. They change the menu all the time depending on the season, which is such a good idea as locally sourced seasonal food is awesome. I had a crab in pea veloute, which was a stunning starter. Then for the main, a plate of tender mutton cooked in 3 different ways with accompanying sauces. So tasty and well presented, it was like a piece of art. I felt that we were outside of London for a moment, as Native really did have a very personal and relaxed feel.
Where’s the food? This is what you will find yourself asking when they bring the microscopic portions to your table. You’ll pay a tenner for a couple of bits of courgette. Seriously, this place is an absolute piss take. They could at least give you free bread to make up for the embarrassingly stingy portion sizes but no, a bit of bread is 4, for no particular reason.Going to this place was an expensive mistake.
