I booked a table for a large party , dinner for a birthday When we arrive to be lead upstairs, I told the waitress that when I booked I was told we would be sat on the mezzanine level downstairs. Her reply was I dont make the bookings. very un helpful and very unprofessional tone. not the best first impressions Once upstairs I realised that there wasnt enough place settings for the number of people attending We waited for a solution to add places to an already cramped seating arrangement. Up heavel insuranced while we all had to get up from our seats while tables, chairs and coat stands were moved. At the end of all the saga and the tables had been moved we was in the same position as when we started and no additional room had been made I then had to take matters into my our hands and move tables and seats to resolve the situation myself Finally after 30mins or so we could start our night When making a reservation Id expect to arrive and everything to be set up and not have to move tables around myself We spend over 1000,on dinner alone including paying the service chargeAt no point did a manger come over to help or apologie for the situation and lack of service. No discount on our meal was offered we was handed a few 2-1 drinks voucher for the bar down stairs, to release we was charged full price for drinks any way

The food is decent- we got the gambas, jamon board, chorizo lollipops, cod fritters, calamari. They didn’t provide bread which we bought separately disappointingly. The gambas was a tiny oottion( 5 small prawns) and very salty. The rest of the food was all deep fried except for the jamon. Healthier alternatives on the menu would hv been appreciated. The prices were only reasonable when using a taste card – 50% off – should be that price anyway I thought. We ordered desert – chocolate fondant – was so good we ordered it again.

Flamenco Dancing? Sangria? Spanish Tapas? The Salvador and Amanda restaurants in London offer a great, affordable London dining experience.Thursday night was my third visit to one of their two restaurants. That sure counts for something, right?Mr. Sunny and I have been to both the Covent Garden and the Bloomsbury locations. This is why I suggested Salvador and Amanda to my ultra cool blogger buddy Kings Road Rocks for our recent catch-up dinner date. So, was the third time also a charm? Lets go further back in time to figure it outSalvador and Amanda- Bloomsbury Location:One night in January, Mr. Sunny and I visited Salvador and Amandas Bloomsbury restaurant. We had been to the Covent Garden restaurant a year before and absolutely loved it. We were excited to see the menu was nearly identical. However, since the previous years trip was pre-blog days, I dont have any pictures to share from that first night.Until now, I never even mentioned my January experience because it was one of my first food blogging attempts. Some of the dishes you get there are Pulpo A La Gallega con Alcaparras (Galician style octopus with capers and smoked paprika) Carrilleras de Cerdo con pure de patatas y mostaza (Braised pork cheeks with mustard mash) and Calamares. We thought the restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere, but the actual lighting is very low. Aside from the above mentioned dishes, we ordered our standard red wine and beer.Mr. Sunny picked the Seleccion de Jamon, Chorizo y Queso (selection of Serano ham, chorizo and cheeses) for us. I always let him order for me because he knows so much about food. And we really loved the Albondigas en Salsa de Tomate (Spanish meatballs in a rich tomato sauce).Similar to our first trip, we saved tons of money with our Tastecard because Salvador and Amanda offers such amazing deals. However, we left thinking that our first dining experience at the restaurants Covent Garden location was a bit better. sunnyinlondon.com

The other night I was invited along to a media dinner at Salvador & Amanda, the restaurants new Bloomsbury location.Considering the launch was the night before, I was surprised to see such an overwhelming crowd enjoying after work drinks and tapas at the bar.I was ushered through the bustling crowd and made my way upstairs to the much calmer setting of Restaurant Cadaqus. A dimly lit room with tables set for two and a romantically set long table for our twelve person dinner. We all found our place cards and chatted away about the restaurants background as we gazed at a stunning picture of Cadaqus hanging over the table. The restaurant is appropriately named after Salvador Dali and his muse, Amanda and serves tapas influenced by the region of Catalonia that he often visited. After a cocktail reception, the table was then served a series of tapas for us all to share made by the incredibly talented Chef Rubn Dario Estrella. First we tasted Jamon Iberico Pata Negra which is hand carved, acorn fed Iberico ham on the bone from Jabugo which had been cured for 36 months. This was exquisite and was served with salted Marcona almonds and bread with pure Spanish olive oil.The perfect taste of Spain to set the mood.We were then served a salad of chicory, walnuts, pear, blue cheese and an acidic dressing to tie the sharp and sweet flavours together. Next were handpicked crab and chili croquettes. A crispy fried bite with a smooth, creamy filling of sweet crab meat was absolutely delicious. After that, we were served sauteed wild mushrooms with garlic and a poached, free range egg. This was delicious and incredibly morish. Next up, Cornish scallops with cauliflower puree and raisins. These were cooked to perfection and had a drizzle of aged balsamic to really enhance the sweet flavours of the puree and raisins. Our last tapas was certainly not least.Chorizo Lollipops with quince aioli.Pieces of chorizo which had been battered and fried were skewered to be dipped in a quince aioli.Crunchy batter, salty chorizo and sweet quince aioli were a divine creation that gave a whole new meaning to the word lollipop. After our series of shared tapas came our main.Roast Suckling pig served with new potatoes and broccoli. The pig was cooked to perfection. The new potatoes and broccoli were tender, yet crunchy and had a sweet salty flavour to them. Then came heaven.I have had a lot of desserts in my life and it is very rare that I stumble across a pudding that makes me say, Wow.But this chocolate fondant with coffee ice cream and candied almonds made me exclaim in pure delight WOW!Silky, creamy chocolate mousse guarded a cold, liquid coffee ice cream centre. With each bite there was a sweet crunch of candied almond.Dessert perfection, gracias! alessandrabrian.com
