I’ve visited the Poetry Place for lunch several times, but for some reason, it doesn’t seem to impress – or leave a lasting impression at all. And with so many lunch options around in Covent Garden (including veggie spots), I find it difficult to want to return. The recipes are decent enough, but nothing new or inspired, which is unusual as the vegan/vegetarian scene has been increasingly creative and innovative as of late. On the occasions I’ve visited, service has been lacklustre, and while this may not be of importance to some, it is something I pick up on when I’m eating out – regardless of whether it’s an independently run cafe or a Michelin-starred restaurant.Final verdict? Mediocre, at best. Wish I could say it was more. angloyankophile.com
