  Not so good. Despite the ‘friendly’ ‘cheap and cheerful’ presentation, we found that the food lacked a real fresh taste and was very disappointing. New to the area, this was our third time eating at this greasy spoon, once again, we found that the ‘spice’ in the food is powdered and not from fresh chilli’s , the burning sensation should be at the back of mouth and taste of fresh chilli, our burn was on the lips and tip of tongue, and had with a chalky texture to it, the other the sauces on the menu are a very sweet gloppy mix and surprisingly similarly across all dishes, the chicken, ribs, and seafood are bland and chewy, which could be due to the big tub of frozen chicken easily spotted in the kitchen, prawns are rubbery, crab was. So if your after a very cheap Chinese without a fresh taste, this is your place or perhaps buy it from your local Iceland for a pound, if you want fresh ingredients with excitment created from food rather than from a forced smile and banal banter, go elsewhere.

  E-Wok might be laughing in the face of Lucasfilm’s top lawyers, but it continues to serve up tasty Chinese at fantastic value for money. So tasty in fact, that his sit in cafe beats he food at most ‘proper’ Chinese restaurants.
